Battlestar Galactica 2.15 — "Scar" (rampant spoilage)

As always, I’m padding the thread with a content-free OP so as not to reveal via inadvertent mouseover preview that Starbuck is made of chocolate.

Spoiler policy: If it’s been aired, or if it’s purely speculative, no need for a box. If it’s about an upcoming episode (as disclosed via interviews, blog, etc), or if it’s speculation based on same, box it. For all boxes, provide a descriptive label of what’s hidden so we can decide whether or not we want to highlight it.

Recapping up to this point.

What happened last week: Not a hell of a lot. :frowning:

In general, plot checkpoints and random questions:

Roslin and Baltar are engaged, subtly and not so, in drawing their respective battle lines.

The Pop-Tart is still safely ensconced in the Boomerwomb.

Ginasix is no doubt going all Montgomery-Burns-y over her new thermonuclear toy.

And her peace movement is… what? Forgotten after two weeks ago, or about to become a serious player?

We still don’t know how Cylon strategy will be affected by the loss of the Resurrection Ship (though apparently episode 18 will provide important revelations on this point).

Who’s in charge of Pegasus?

Where’s Starbuck’s head at? After the dark eulogy she gave for Cain, she’s been a non-player in the last two episodes. Tonight, based on the preview, is all about her.

Other supporting characters we need to check in with: Helo (will he forgive the attempt to terminate the Pop Tart?), Tyrol, Cally, Billy (not counting his cameo at the end of “Black Market”).

Speaking of which, are the writers going to try to rescue the Dualla/Apollo thing, or just let it fade? I hope they either drop it or have something interesting in mind for it; I don’t want it to get pointlessly dragged out while they figure out what to do with it.

Mostly, I just want a nice, solid episode to erase the muddled mediocrity of last week. If Ron Moore is to be believed, tonight’s a corker.

Puts a bowl of peaches on the table

I have no predictions, but if I don’t see a space battle tonight I’m going to start complaining. More than I usually do, anyway.

Maybe Starbuck will be a loud abusive drunk, and start spouting off about how Adama doesn’t know the way to Earth. That could be interesting.

Say what?

She likes it that way. Mrs. Plant has a Sheltie that jumps up and down screaming, "It’s all about ME!

I’m still not giving up on my push to have the kid officially named the Baby Boomer.

Heh heh heh, ex-cellent.”

Danke zehr, mein freund.

No predictions from me. I’ve been flat-out wrong with every damned one so far, and it’s starting to get embarassing!

That’s too funny. Is that what the “ES” stood for in your “ASPCAES” comment a few weeks ago? The American Society for Prevent of Cruelty to Animals Except Shelties? Funny because my dog (which I erroneously typed that I may throw at the TV) is, in fact, a sheltie.

my predictions for tonight, Grace Park quits the show and spends the evening sitting on Oh wait wrong thread.

I have no idea at all whats going on, havent even scene a preview…seen a preview? frak i need a day off.

superbowl sunday first day off in about a month, Seahawks are in the game and I will probably sleep the entire thing and I live in Seattle.

SPCAES

“The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals with the Exception of Snakes.”

Your name’s going on a list, Pal.

Hmm, so the Raiders are showing signs of sentience? “Scar” as a strategic raider?

Starbuck’s heavy drinking is definitely off character here…, maybe Sackoff and Hogan switched scripts?

OOOOO…tricky, i guess Ol’ Scar is a crafty lil’ Toaster after all…setting up an ambush…

Stolen from a Space Above and Beyond story.

No, her not being able to hold her liquor is out of character.

true, then again this ep is using the flashback plot device rather heavily…

nice to see some good 3-axis flying again (Starbuck flying in reverse seeing if Scar was trailing them…)

…still, the name “Scar” reminds me of the evil lion from The Lion King more than a Toaster…

looks like the loss of the resurrection ship is affecting Toaster combat strategies…

poor Boomer, she so badly wants to be part of the Galactica family again, i feel sorry for her, i want to trust her intentions as honorable…

Man, if you drank like that, you would die.

Naah, all Starbuck needs to do is drink a dose of Magic Pop-Tart™ Blood, instant hangover cure…

Oh yeah, I seen that at the Seven-Eleven.

“Use the Force…Kara!”…
<Zoned out expression>

Hmmm…Kat just waxed Scar, looks like Starbuck will have to turn in her "Best <fill in the blank> in the fleet trophy…

two hotshot pilots that hate each other, add in another layer into an already multilayered plot…

Overall, a pretty good episode this week, light years better than the last few, i’d give this ep an 8 out of 10
