Battlestar Galactica 4.16 - "Blood on the Scales" (note change in spoiler policy)
Sorry if this doesn’t really need to be spoilered; I haven’t compiled my compendium on what needs to be spoilered and what doesn’t.

In essence, “What everyone else said.”

I’m glad we finally get to see the engineering spaces of a Battlestar.

Jump drives looking like high-tech reciprocating steam engines: way cool!

And I also want to know what Tyrol was looking at after he yanked the main fuse whatsit thingy out of the jump drive. It looked like a crack in a bulkhead. Maybe Galactica has made her final jump?
Captain Kelly – Kelley? sp? – is the ex-landing officer whose character was inexplicably turned into the Mad Bomber so they’d have someone to blow up Romo Lampkin – Lamkin? Lambkin? we need a frakkin’ spelling guide here – back when he was Baltar’s lawyer.

He had hardly any screen time, despite probably being next in command after Tigh, and having been around since the miniseries. Nonetheless, I’d rather liked him, and was irked when the writers tossed him into that stupid Mad Bomber plot.

Oh: he was the one who let Tyrol go in the armory, and then defected to Adama’s side.

Well, Gaida and Zarek seemed to have a nice little gay moment in the launch tube.

Tyrol was crawling through a Jeffries Tube.

Does Opal watch this show? She was a big First Wave fan and I think she designed Sebastian Spence’s website. When First Wave was on, we used to both post on the Sci-Fi board about it.

Opal?

By the way, Opal, do you have season 3 of First Wave on tape/dvd?

Zarek makes Nixon look tolerant.

Rosilyn channels Delenn!

Frak Scifi for the “false” preview for this episode. That’s not really playing fair.

The execution was…meh. Adama should have shot Gaeta in the head on the bridge. Zarek didn’t deserve the “privilege” of a firing squad. Just stuff his sorry ass out the nearest airlock.

Wanted to see more of the Adama rescue. It seemed sort of…random…for the guy to get the go ahead order, then we zoom out to show Tigh & Co. have disarmed the firing squad, apparently without firing a shot.

Also wanted to see the Anders situation resolved tonight. It just sorta stopped, with his fate unknown…

I think Tyrol was looking at what will eventually spell the end of Galactica. She’s getting old, and all those FTL jumps has been taking its toll?

Naah, a little bit (well, liberal amount, really) of JB Weld and a couple of spare hull plates and she’ll be as good as new, well, at least able to jump, these old Battlestars are tough buggers

…or patch the hole with the corpses of Zarek and Gaeta…

I was thinking that what Tyrol saw might have been another Final Five vision. Too brief to tell, though. I think this was another of their episodes where they had to cut out a bunch of stuff to make it fit in.

I also had to snerk at Roslin on the basestar, trying to get the radio to work, helped by… Leoben. Her first victim as Madame Airlock. Especially when he smugly patted the piece of Cylon technology he’d used to help her

… that looked like some cheap Radio Shack adapter with LED lights. Superior Cylon tech, my ass. Circuit City discount bin, says I.

You’d think the basestar’s wireless would be far more powerful and harder to jam than the Raptor’s too. I think it’s same to assume that the rebel Cylons will be granted citizenship and a seat at the Quroum now (assuming Roslin reinstate’s it).

All good points.
Re:Previews. In English class, someone remarked that it said on the back of the book that “people live forever in Shangri La.” Fr. Debosier remarked that, “Mr. Hilton did not write the back of the book.”

I would have liked to see Gaeta and Zarek get a trial. I presume they did and there wasn’t time to show it.

What was the deal with sitting down? Gaeta perhaps. I seem to remember that the Russian Royal Family was shot in chairs waiting for a train. Is it dishonorable to be shot sitting instead of standing?

What Tyrol saw:The SciFi Channel series of clues showed a future clip in which Adama is washing his face in his quarters, looks up and sees a similar crack. My guess is, the Galactica is on it’s last legs and is about to come apart
Preview spoilerHow could I have forgotten that Helen Tigh died many months ago, long before the Resurrection Hub was destroyed? I’m sure she woke up 33 minutes later somewhere and it’s taken her this long to find the fleet again.
Adama wimped out. I had imagined him lining up each and every mutineer on the flight deck and personally putting a bullet through their heads one at a time. But apparently enough mutineers got cold feet/ second thoughts to convince Adama to show some leniency.

He’s got to have enough guys alive to crew the ship.

You don’t know that he didn’t shoot a few other ringleaders. Just because you only saw two men shot doesn’t mean others weren’t.

They can’t shoot everyone who, directly or indirectly, followed an order, because you quickly get into confusion over who was engaged in mutiny and who just took orders from their legal superior.

Galactica is coming apart and probably won’t be able to jump much more. The closest planet is Earth so I think they will return there. Since the final five are from Earth, it makes sense that their resurrection facilities are there (here) as well. When Galactica finds the facilities, they will find Ellen.

The final five are completely seperate from the other 7 and will not rely on their resurrection technology.

There was a quick shot that seemed to show a LOT of baseships…

I think the Galactica might be the dying leader, if they bring the prophecy stuff back, ever.

Wow, Wow, HOLY FRAKING WOW!
I just hope they saved the chairs before they air locked those two, those would be hard to replace.
re the stuff Tyrol saw, my guess is it will be some kind of metal fatigue either related to the constant FTL jumps or specific to the Galatica (like the types of alloys used in those old ass battlestars

My guess is that Sam almost-dying jump-starts a nearby old-timey resurrection hub, rezzing Ellen and jostling loose some of Sam’s blocked memories.

When Lee threw the grenade and the bad guys shouted “Grenade!”, did anyone else think of Halo?

I love Tyrol. Always have. Great actor.

CPT Kelly’s turnaround was a huge bonus. I loved it.

The only thing missing was Hoshi putting a bullet through Gaeta’s head, but oh well.
