Is this just PC fodder or are some people just not into the whole standards thing?
Can I petition to have thursday’s changed cause I’m not into thor, the norse god?
Christian or not this has been pretty standard for a bit is it really a good idea to refer to it as something else cause it upsets some people? And if so why its still the same dates, which should matter more then what its refered to.
Maybe if its that upseting we can set it to Cecil’s Era?
What would 2001 AD be then in Cecil’s Era?
Well, it’s been pretty standard for western civilization, but not necessarily for others. Say, the Chinese. Who outnumber us. And have been around longer (they must have–their year is bigger than ours). Suppose they changed all their calendars to BB and AB (Before Buddha and After Buddha). Would that make sense to us?
On a side note, I’ve always wondered if 12:00 noon is 12:00 a.m. or p.m. A.M means “before the meridian,” p.m. means “after the meridian,” noon is the meridian and therefore both and neither.
It may come as somewhat of a shock to you, but the vast majority of the population of this earth are not christians, and some do not even use the christian calendar. In Japan, the year is Heisei 13. In the Chinese calendar, it is year 4698. In the Jewish calendar, it is 5762.
I don’t mind changing it out right, just changing the name is kinda stupid it still means what it did before but we’re pretending it doesn’t to apease the pc elite.
I have no misconception about that, and this is not about whether it should be based on the religion of a minority population and that changing the name is not going to affect that.
