And I got this cute little thing for my keychain, and when I get two more hole punches in it I get a $15 gift certificate to a Darden restaurant (Olive Garden, Red Lobster, etc.)
Oh, and I also got a pass for 4 to go see an Orlando Rays baseball game.
I gave blood yesterday too…and they informed me it was my two gallon mark.
I would encourage anyone who wants to give back to the world, but maybe doesn’t have the time or money to feel that there is much they can do…to give blood. Of course there are many other things you can do also, but this one is really easy. (For me, anyway…please don’t jump all over that comment, 'kay?)
As to the OP…brings ivylass a nice glass of orange juice, [sub]with a shot of vodka on the side…optional…as it was YESTERDAY you donated[/sub] and a good book to read along with it. Also lots of kudos.
They told me I needed all the blood I had considering my body was making so much extra for the baby. They did give me a Tshirt, cookies and juice though just for accompanying my husband when he donated!
Red Cross people are really nice. I once got a t-shirt even though I couldn’t donate due to low iron. (The Bloodmobile comes to our place of work about every three months.) I tried to give it back, but they wouldn’t take it.
And the time before, the Vampire (:D) was a really cutie-pie! I even got my boss out there to donate when I told her about Cute Vampire Man!
I think it would be kind of neat if you could track your donation. I understand confidentiality rules, but maybe something like “Thanks for donating. Your pint number is XJS245,” and then you could go online and find out XJS245 was given to a 47 year old man who was the victim of a car crash.
I mean, I know they use the blood. I think it would be neat to know how they use it. I wonder if that would encourage more people to donate.
I’m scheduled for next week. Giving blood was one of the good things that came out of 9-11. Before that, I had always said I would but never got off my butt to actually donate. I’m looking into bone marrow donations now but haven’t gotten up the courage yet.
