Unreal. This dad went from media hero to less than zero in like a day. What the fuck is wrong with people?:smack:
What if the kid needs butthole reconstructive surgery?
Well, it’s just riding on the community reflex of throwing money at people who have suffered misfortune. I’m surprised it wasn’t a roaring success.
Look at Newtown - the money poured in nonstop for months, even after polite comments were made that we’d all probably sent enough. Last I heard, the funds had over a million dollars per victim family, after passing on a generous amount to many of them. The urge to help is powerful, even when it doesn’t make much sense; the line between “appropriate” donation efforts and ones viewed as scum-sucking ripoffs seems quite fine.
Sorry kid, I already spent all mine on potato salad.
I don’t condone this, but I’m ambivalent about it.
If a person goes from an ordinary person, a nobody, to beating down an intruder raping his son, to suddenly a hero and literally famous person, and now son is injured and has suffered psychological damage, and there may be immediate medical bills or counseling or whatever, swept up in the suddenness of “I’m famous” plus “I’m a hero” plus I need to pay for X and Y…
I don’t know. I don’t know what kind of a psychological state I’d be in if I had just gone through all that. Sometimes we don’t make the best decisions under those circumstances. After all that’s just happened to that family, I’m willing to give any member of that family a pass for acute selfishness.
If the kid gets his college education paid for, for example, and medical bills and counseling covered. Maybe the dude snapped and he wants to buy the single most expensive alarm and security system for his house that he can find. I haven’t a clue.
Basically here’s where I’m at- until the guy also commits a crime, I could give a crap about him behaving like a jackass right now. I think you get a pass on that.
There are far more pit-worthy targets is what I’m saying.
Surely “Obama Care” will cover that, right? Does dad work for Hobby Lobby?
It’s no sexism, that’s for sure!
Or rap music, or “faux culture warriors”, or even evil itself. Future pit topics for askthepizzaguy: Tipping; the AIDS epidemic; Civil War Revisionism; Indian Gaming; Night Blindness.
You know who else deserves pitting?
That guy on 32nd Street who always tips with coins?
Whine, whine, whine. Pit me if you don’t like it. I promise you it won’t offend my fragile ego.
Is that the title of the first chapter of the first volume of the response you’re working on?
Awww, person on text-based forum doesn’t like reading blocks of text. I care! Watch. Watch me care.
About that fragile ego you claim you don’t have…
I think that’s like a million bucks, if your employer dosen’t cover it.
I don’t get this. As far as I can tell, Askthepizzaguy posted the only really sensible thing in this thread and he’s getting attacked for having pitted other things before. And everyone’s riffing on Drunky Smurf’s comment, which, as far as I can tell, boils down to “har, har isn’t anal rape funny.”
Well, Askthepizzaguy is held to a high standard.
Drunky Smurf is a moron who gets a pat on the head anytime he completes a sentence without shitting himself.
I want a pat on the head too
pat pat pat @ drewtwo99
