I really feel sorry for the movers. Not the company, but the actual guys who are loading my stuff in 92 degree heat.
The original plan was for tomorrow morning. I’m sure they would have liked that as it’s 10 or more degrees cooler then. But, instead, the temp shot up six degrees in the hour since they got here. Doesn’t help any that the dispatcher forgot to set them up with the things they need like wardrobe boxes and a ramp for the truck.
I had to run to UHell for wardrobes, and they’re waiting for someone to deliver a ramp before they try moving the piano.
So far, I like the actual workers, and I want to like the owner of the company, but the crunchy middle is not so good.
Had to drive to Slough today, to pick up an amp for the housemate- he is paying me to do it. It started raining on the way back, for the first time in weeks. It’s lovely and cool.
The other nice thing is that I nipped down the allotment on the way back, figuring the slugs/snails would be out partying and scoffing my crops, went in the she’d to get my (apparently low impact wildlife safe) slug pellets and… the strimmer’s back.
I have no idea who “borrowed” it; certainly none of the immediate neighbours who I actually know. It will now be living in the locked garage at the house.
and here I thought you was talking about me mixing up red and rockin’
whew!
I screwed up the grocery deliver and scheduled the order for tomorrow instead of today. So today became another pizza day, I have stuff I could eat but the kid is picky.
AT&T called me and now I have to go to the AT&T store for a new SIM card. That is on the agenda for tomorrow.
We’ve both been to Graceland, in all of its tacky splendor, so we plan on spending one day and evening on Beale Street and do a cemetery tour the next day before heading toward Tupelo and Jackson. Beyond Memphis, the itinerary is going to be pretty much free form.
Ok, so I go to explain everything in person and guess what, they had it right but just couldn’t understand they had it right. So I was able to go on to the Burly Butcher Sto’ and now I’m here at da cave. I have dindin for tonight. BBQ, slaw, and chips cause I don’t want to bother with turnin’ on the oven. Oh and ribbage for the big Fourth celebration has been procured. Bib, beautiful slabs of poke ribs which shall be smoked along with chikin boobs and laigs. MMMMMM…
I may begin mowage of da yahd late this afternoon. We shall see.
We’re going to Johnstown tomorrow for Thunder in the Valley. Higgs will be dropped at the kennel when they open and we’ll head up the road immediately thereafter. We won’t have to pick her up till Sat morning.
**FCD **wants to look at bikes to get an idea of the kind of painting he needs to do. I’ll take my camera to take pics. It should be a nice day to walk around.
Chicken fried rice for supper, and peach crisp for dessert - I need to start building that right now.
Dindin got ingested then mowage ensued. Da yahd is now purty and da bear is showered and likewise purdy.
MOOOOOOM that does kinda sound like fun.
flytrap I figure on half a slab per person. Some eat more and some eat less. Plus there will also be smoked chikin, baked beans, (I ain’t makin’ 'em cause I think it’s too hawt to make 'em. However, I shall eat 'em is somebody else makes and brings ‘em), coleslaw, N.O.T. sallit, rolls and watermelon. I can’t imagine anybody goin’ home hongry after all that. Anywho, half a slab per person is a good rule of thumb.
Speakin’ of watermelon, I believe I shall go partake of some.
Tacitus, a senate of the Roman Empire, recognized this unappealing characteristic in humans when he said ’Men are more ready to repay an injury than a benefit, because gratitude is a burden and revenge a pleasure’.
I saw this quote today and I think it is a keeper.
Decided to let nearby Chinese delivery place do the cooking tonight. Appetizer assortment has been consumed, along with additional appetizer items (we did have to negotiate a little about who got how much of what, taking respective tastes into account). Chicken egg foo yung is portioned out for zap-and-eat, including my lunch for at least one pending workday.
Question for those who might know: would it be fair to describe egg foo yung as pretty much a frittata with gravy?
Thanks for the awesome birfday wishes, y’all. It’s been an incredible day. Lunch with the sprog and a friend (and a salty caramel cupcake), then to Petsmart for cat food, back to Petsmart with Airman and the sprog to investigate a cat (who, alas, has been adopted, but there’s more coming!), and dinner (and a brownie with ice cream and a side of humiliation).
My momma sent an Amazon gift card, so I got a book that I’ve wanted for a while and I’m going to have a look to see if there’s anything else that looks intriguing. Any recommendations?
I had a haircut at…Super Cuts, Superior Cuts, Something Cuts, whatever, by the same girl who resembles Patricia Gentry, the daughter of one of my Father’s associates at work, who cut it last time.
The first girl I dated, and the first girlfriend Mama Plant hated.
But I digress.
A New Thing at Whatchamacallit Cuts is wiping your neck and ears with a warm, wet cloth to remove the pieces of cut hair.
I asked her if she was mopping up blood, and she laughed.
