OYKW and I met up at the not too shabby Chinese [del] hog trough[/del] buffet. Now I’m all settled down in da cave for the night. The rain did not happen but might accordin’ to the weather PTB. We shall see.
Thus endeth the weekend. On the upside the upcomin’ irkweek is a four day one, so there’s that.
It is a Great Relief among MMPers.
We were all terribly concerned.

I’m crosseyed from doing 2 million ad signs. Five spice poke chops and green tea ginger rice for dinner.
The trash is now out at the road awaitin’ pickup tomorrow. Just thought y’all would want to know.
We are all Vastly Relieved.

So playing with radios starts off with putting up antennae, stringing feed lines from said antennae into radios, and then waiting for the clock to strike 2 p.m. When that happens, people pick up the microphones and go looking for people to talk to. Ideally, the people on the other end of the conversation are a) in a state different from your own, and b) someone you haven’t talked to yet that day. Each time you talk to someone, you enter their information into the logging software, where each contact is tallied up for “points”. These “points” are similar to “brownie points” because, although the goal is to get as many as possible, there is no prize for whoever gets the most. In that respect, it’s kind of like winning the Internet. The goal is to rally the troops and get them to learn how to make the most of the hobby of amateur radio.
I’m looking forward to buying my own radio so I can engage in such fun on a more regular basis. Only with less craziness and more sleep.
The water, being water & not solid ground absorbs some of the jumper’s energy, causing the launchee to not go as high. With solid ground underneath, the launchee would get enough extra height to do an extra somersault or two.
Or maybe a Great White. Ummm, [del]Quint[/del] Swampy, you wouldn’t happen to have a pool float that you call “Orca” would you?
That’s fine, but Imma concerned about your roof; methinks you’re going to need a steady stream of, ummm, errrr, roofing contractors to go up & inspect it on certain days. Yeah, yeah, that’s it, roofing contractors!
Happy Sunday all! I woke up early, but went back to sleep, so then didn’t get up until nearly 10 AM. Oh well, I must have needed the rest, I guess.
My daughter and I went out yesterday to the library and the grocery store, so I was a bit worn out by a double excursion.
The library visit was actually quite productive; I didn’t get any books out, but I spoke with a reference librarian and got some good ideas from her about different authors and books to try out. There is a software database that if you put in an author’s name, it will pull up the names of other authors who either have a similar style of writing or write in a similar genre. She looked up two of the authors I enjoy, and one list included several other favorites but also several new ones, so I am looking forward to looking up their books and hopefully ordering them up for pickup.
The other author was a mystery novelist, and I got the names of 10 other authors, none of which I was familiar with. So it looks like I’m going to have a wide choice of books, or at least that is my hope. I also found out that through the library (unfortunately, only the main library, not the branch closest to me), I can access ancestry.com and they have a genie room there, with staff available to assist you in doing geneology work. I’ve done some in the past, and now have the time to really get into it, so I may well have found a really good project to work on. So yay on that!
I just a bit ago finished up a taco salad that my daughter made for me for dinner tonight. I used to love them, but when I was pregnant with my son (more years ago than I care to admit! LOL), I must have eaten too many of them, because I stopped eating them. I had a taste for one tonight, and boy did it meet my expectations! Delicious, and I did NOT make a mess eating it (which I frequently do when eating tacos … :(). Glad to know that I can add taco salad into meal rotation again.
Hope everyone has a good night and that all have enjoyed their day. Extra hugs for Taters; your son will have a good time in France. And congrats on the upcoming week with RT and kids, Sticky.
I sleep in a basement. With a/c on it’s probably around 65. I actually bundle up and normally wake at 7, shut off my alarm and sleep till 9. Average beginning to my days since I move down to this room.
