oh, I so love my local theater.

not only can you drink alcohol and order food, but they don’t even ALLOW kids, except on Tuesdays during the day or something, so guess when nobody goes.

You’re right, of course. Superman (the first one) was one of the best movies I ever saw because of the audience. They were true fans waiting to be entertained. At the first scene where you finally saw Superman in the Fortress of Solitude fly off in full costume, I swear the entire audience erupted in cheers and a standing ovation. I think this is the kind of thing you might be talking about.

A bunch of assholes talking to the screen? Nah.

I had the same kind of experience when I saw the first Keaton Batman film the day after it opened at Mann’s Chinese. Something about a packed house full of people who are really there for the movie makes it a hell of a lot more fun.

But I don’t begrudge those who would rather have their experience in the privacy of their own home, either.
