I haven’t played those games, you’re right. But Harmonix has said from the beginning that the Beatles game would use the Rock Band instruments. While a little tweaking is possible, there’s just not enough room to make “a completely different game” and still use the same instruments as Rock Band.
I agree with you that’s it disappointing after all their talk of making it different, but I can’t say I’m surprised.
Why don’t you wait to pass judgment until you actually see what they’re doing with the game?
Yes, I’m sure the core gameplay will be using the instruments to play the notes like we do in Rock Band. But the game around it could be totally different. From what I understand, McCartney, George Martin, and other have not just approved this, but they’re having some creative input. So we have no idea what this will be yet. It could even be mashups like the Beatles’ “Love” project. It could work in psychodelia, video footage from concerts, you name it.
And I never expected anything more.
Who’s passing judgement? I’m just remarking on the fact that Harmonix said one thing during the initial announcement (“It’s not going to be a Rock Band game.”) and now have said something completely opposite that (the game is called The Beatles: Rock Band after all).
That’s a perfect reason for gamers to step back and go :dubious:
