Hubba-hubba.

Look at those guns. That’s a mighty Aphrodite.

Nice!

Beautiful. Talented artist.

No underwire bras necessary there.

It says they initially labelled it a “water nymph”, then decided it was an “Aphrodite”.

What is the difference? Is there a pose or a hairstyle that determines one or the other?

It’s nice, but it’s no Aphrodite Kallipygos:

I finally understand what callipygian means.

I guess I wandered into the frat boy forum by mistake. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I was wondering the same thing.

It may be that thing with the hair on top. The one that Alessan linked has that same hair style.

Not the best photograph of the statue. Directly front-on isn’t the most flattering view of a person (and thus, of a statue of a person).

What does everyone think is on her head?

I’m guessing a crown of flowers.

I’d guess it’s a bunch of sea shells/ cockle shells amassed on her head.

The hair is a variation of the knotted style particularly associated with Apollo and Aphrodite/Venus. Along with the Aphrodite Kallipygos, comparable examples of a similar date include the Capitoline Venus, the Borghese Venus and the Mazarin Venus.

I’d have to go with her own braided hair. The point of being the sexist woman ever (an actual goddess) is that you have the baddest ass hair along with everything else top shelf. No flowers or do-dsds necessary.

If she has the baddest ass hair, she’s not Aphrodite. I figure the god with the baddest ass hair is probably Vulcan, since he’s the god of plumbers, and other working types.

I would think Pan would put Vulcan to shame.

There’s a difference between fur and hair.
