I guess Bebo is a new online address book company. Your friend signs up and then sends you an email through Bebo, giving Bebo your email address, requesting you to enter all of your personal contact info to compile your friend’s address book.
I got one email from a guy asking me to enter my personal info into his new “online” address book. The guy confirmed that it was his request. No problem. I entered my data.
Shortly thereafter, maybe about a month later, I get a new email asking me to VERIFY the info I entered and submit any changes. What a pain in the ass! I ignored it.
Now, it’s MY obligation to update YOUR address book every month?
Not only that, but some of my other friends are on my friend’s list and seem to like Bebo concept. Now, they have all sent me emails requesting me to enter my data for them.
I imagine that soon, all my time will be spent verifying and “updating” my unchanged contact info for everybody’s goddamn address book.
STOP SPAMMIMNG SPAM
SHIT
I went online and also found that Bebo may subject you to “targeted ads” for your own good. Thankyousoverymuch, Bebo fucks!
I got a Bebo email from a friend a few weeks ago. I filled out my info, but was pretty pissed off when i realised that i would be bugged to confirm my address (or put in a new one) on a regular basis.
When i change my address or phonoe number or anything like that, i send a group email to everyone on my list. If they can’t keep their address books up to date that way, then that’s their problem.
I’m not responding to any more of these Bebo things…
If a ‘friend’ submitted my e-mail address to a web service that does nothing but maintain a database of contact information, and is supported exclusively by advertising revenue, I’d have them killed.
Yep. I get one every so often from a friend who I know has my phone number and e-mail address. She’s done this sort of thing before with other offers - like the free movie tickets! thing - that I just deleted it. But every once in a while I get a reminder from them that she wants this update.
Nope. Not going to happen. She’s included on the updates to my address when they occur, so there’s no reason for her not to update her address book herself.
