Saw one of theselast night and it was just too cool. It’s a 64 ounce CO2 pressurized growler. Kind of steampunky looking, with the watch-glass and all.
After playing with it and talking to the proud owner, I pulled up my Amazon app and tried to order it, but they are sold out.
Anyone have one??
ETA: The guy I was talking with has one of each, copper and stainless steel. The copper is nice looking, but $20(?) more.
I know one guy who has one. He’s said that the spigot is kind of cheap. It leaks a bit and doesn’t hold pressure properly. IDK if it just his particular one or if it is indicative of a production problem.
But they do look really cool.
It looks like you have to take this whole apparatus to your local craft brewer to be filled. And it only holds 64 ounces. How many beers do you expect to serve at your next party or tailgating, or are you supposed to buy more than one of these uKegs?
Heh. Yep, it’s just a fancy 64 ounce growler. Four pint glasses.
Take uKeg to pub, get a fill. Drink two pints watching TV that night, two more the next day. Empty.
Where it would be nice for me is with an ultra-high-end beer. Most places offer a nice growler-fill discount, often 50% off. Get it filled with a 10.5% ABV beer and enjoy an occasional glass along with other beers at home.
They are a work of art. I was going to get in on Kickstarter, but I was too late for the cheapest offer and it was also clear by then that they would hit the level that allowed them to also develop the 128 oz version. Now I just need to decide which one to get or convince my wife we need both.
I do wish they had a fitting that let you pressurize it from a CO2 tank instead of the disposable cartridges.
