BeetleJuice (BetelGeuse)

Why was BeetleJuice called BetelGeuse at first?

I don’t understand the whole damn movie!?

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

His name is Betelgeuse. He wrote it Beetlejuice so that people would know how to pronounce it, because to summon him you have to say his name 3 times.

What happened in the movie: [Massive spoilers!]

  1. Happy slightly-dorky couple live in a house they like a lot.

  2. They die and become ghosts in their home.

  3. Obnoxious couple with goth daughter move in.

  4. ObCouple tear up the beloved house.

  5. Ghost couple try to chase them out.

  6. Goth-girl finds out about GhCouple.

  7. ObCouple finds having ghosts makes them fashionable.

  8. GhCouple summon Beetlejuice to help them get rid of the ObCouple.

  9. A poorly done seance almost re-kills the ghosts.

  10. Beetlejuice saves the day but almost kills the ObCouple. Gothgirl stops him somehow. I forget.

  11. The two couples & gothgirl live happily ever after. Sort of. Obcouple is confined to a single room while the ghosts raise gothgirl.

wait, I know all that stuff… I mean there are little thins that don’t make sense.

At the end, were the dead people alive again?

I don’t know, the movie wasn’t great… Michael Keaton was very funny though.

Because of Otho’s seance, Charles and Delia could now see the Maitlands at the end of the movie. So, no, the ghost couple were not alive again.

Betelgeuse is the name of a star. At the end of the movie, everyone’s happily co-existing. Or at least as happy as they CAN be.

Wasn’t GREAT? Wasn’t GREAT? I’d like to see you do better. Can you tell, it’s practically one of my favorite movies. And incidentally I started a thread on this earlier on in the year. It’s pretty comprehensive:
