Full trailer is out. I’m guardedly optimistic.
Ooh, with all the original actors? That’s what gives me hope.
I really want it to be good.
ETA: I was watching Dune the other day… Do you think the sandworms are a Dune reference? Went over my head as a kid.
Well, no Daddy Deets (canceled for being a sex offender), no Ortho (cancelled for being dead) and no Maitlands (cancelled probably for not being unaging). But three of the original actors.
And the sandworms almost certainly were inspired by Dune.
And Willem Dafoe!
This actually looks good?
And just think, at one point they were considering a Hawaiian-themed sequel. O_o
Already setting up for a third, possibly titled “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice?”
Come Mr. Tallyman, tally me pineapples.
In his famous story about working on the aborted Superman Lives movie, Kevin Smith notes that he was offered the chance to work on Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian; I always loved his response: “Didn’t we say all we needed to say with the first Beetlejuice? Must we go tropical?”
Batman and Beetlejuice are, I believe, Michael Keaton’s favourite characters he’s played. I’m glad he has gotten chances to revisit them.
Are you sure he’s the bad guy?
I’m still waiting for “Rhubarb Rhubarb Rhubarb.”
And now he doesn’t need much makeup to play the part!
Yet some in Hollywood want to welcome back Kevin Spacey with open arms. And remember they gave an Oscar to a rapist during the height of the Me Too movement. So Hollywood cancellation seems arbitrary
I hope they include some sort of nod to Otho. Glenn Shadix, who portrayed the character, had a truly tragic life. His parents gave him shock treatments when he came out as gay, leading him to attempted suicide. The home he bought to retire to burned down, and he died from hitting his head in an otherwise harmless fall.
Like others though, I’m cautiously optimistic. If anything, aging has just made Keaton shaggier and more in character. Hopefully Burton can recapture the magic instead of the mostly-dreck he’s put out the last couple of decades.
It just won’t be the same without Dick Cavett. He just made the original great.
Or Robert Goulet!
That’s really terrible. I didn’t know he passed away before this thread or how it happened, but I wish things in his life were much better.
Agree. He was great.
Is this a re-make, or part two?
Part two. Wynonna is a bit old to be recreating her teen self. Believe from the trailer that she is the mom in this one and her parents are now dead.
