Belgian Crow ID

We were recently in Brugges, Belgium, and noticed a crow that we’ve never seen before that I’m having trouble identifying. It looks pretty much like our normal North American crows, but the head was distinctly lighter-colored than the rest of the body. In fact, it looks very much like a House Crow, but from what I can tell, House Crows are not especially common in that part of the world. These things were everywhere - easily the most common bird I saw.

Anyone? Calibri?

The Western Jackdaw maybe?

Ooooh that might be it, specifically the subspecies C. m. monedula. It looks just like what I saw.

Hey, I’m a hummingbird, not a typeface.

But you seem to have found the answer already.

Doh! :smack:

I blame it on jetlag. Coming back from Belgium is the pits!

Jackdaws are really common around here. I’d guess they are in Belgium, too. That was my first thought when I saw the thread.

Jackdaws love my big sphinx of quartz.
