Belt sander issue

Wondering if anyone else had this problem. I have a 6X48 belt sander, been using it for many years daily. All of a sudden the belts are too large and I can’t get them tight. I check everything for wear and play and it all looks normal. I assume I got a bad batch of belts that were about a 1/4" too long. I buy some more belts, same problem, more belts different supplier but same type same problem. This went on for months. I was able to use the machine by prying the front roller out and locking it into place. I recently went to a different maunufacturer and all is well. The place tells me they have had no complaints about belts being too long. My machine is a harbor freight model and I am just wondering if they have a smaller adjustment available from the factory??

this one? That’s what I have. I’ve been buying my belts from McMaster for several years (can’t recall the brand), haven’t had any issues.

Daily?! Wow, can I ask what you do, HB? I know we have some amateur DIYers on the board, but I wasn’t aware of any professionals.

Not a pro but I am hopelessly addicted to making all wood bows and arrows as well as toys and other odd wood things for the kids.I spend all day in my workshop everyday. That harbor freight model is a workhorse for the price. My machine proably runs at least 1 hour per day or more and has been going for about 6 years so far.

Machine Elf, I got my last batch from McMaster-Carr and have had no issues, they work great.
