Benghazi Attack for Dummies.

Troops, along with Libyan militia, were sent in to save Americans, and did just that.

Your objection, as near as I can make out, is that 4 Special Forces troops were left guarding the embassy in Tripoli. Is that correct?

But you manage to know how long it takes to ready an F-16, while everyone in uniform is lying about it.

By the way, something confuses me about the “fact-based scenario” you posted:

Where the fuck is Sigonelli? Is that where AFRICON’s headquarters is located?

No, my point is that the criticism is based on the fact that it’s Obama (and Hillary), by and large, not based on any decisions actually made. Not ordering extra forces into a chaotic situation was likely the wisest tactical decision at the time that could have been made.

It’s not even Sigonelli. It’s Sigonella.

It’s in Sicily, so not too far from Libya. It’s a naval air station inside a NATO base. Could make for a useful staging ground for an assault on Libya, but the logistics are wonky. Everything has to go right and you’d have to have forewarning. Basically the type of operation you don’t do until/unless you know the situation on the ground.

Nope. AFRICOM is out of Stuttgart (yeah, makes a lot of sense to me, too).

I think I’ve figured it out.

Acewiza is Sterling Archer.

Well, you kind of missed the point. Acewiza keeps on talking about how nobody but him is a military expert, and I keep needling him about “AFRICON” (as opposed to AFRICOM) and the US base at “Sigonelli”, and so on. I’m waiting for his next post where he talks about the A-19 stealth aircraft launched from the USS Jimmy Carter that could have been on-scene even quicker.

nvm

The main metric I’ve found that has developed during the course of the thread is the frequency of which you duck subtantive questions.

Such as, why you think you know more than two secretaries of defense, at least three four-star generals, several congressional committees, a current and a former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, etc. Another question you’ve ducked is that you expected 4 Special Forces guys to do when a half-dozen security contractors backed up by 50-plus Libyan militia members armed with crew served weapons couldn’t secure the complex.

So far, the metrics of you ducking substantive questions seem to indicate a result of 100%.

Oh well. I kind of got that on review but I missed the subthread.

Strange. You don’t even need to be a military expert to see where the bizarre Rambo scenario just falls apart logistically. You just need to be anybody who’s ever had to manage human beings in any capacity.

Absolutely correct - for clueless idiots with no idea what they are doing.

It’s called the “deer in headlights” syndrome.

When compared to the random evidence-free flailing you’re doing. You really don’t appear to know anything at all about how the military works in the real world.

Really? Gonna go all ad Hominem now? Like it hasn’t already?

Who the fork is Sterling Archer?

You’ve got to be shytting me.

Notice how I haven’t even bothered responding to you?

You’re allowed to use grown up swears in here.

So, to sum it up, Magiver is still hung up on the rapid deployment of a cargo plane filled with buckets of old drill bits like the one he once commissioned, in peacetime, with no lives at stake, from a commercial airport. And a 4 man team assigned to receive the evacuees from the Benghazi attack rather than tardily, futilely – and foolishly – following along behind them. As long as we can blame Hilary.

And then we have “Trust Me!” Acewiza, the world’s only actual expert in all matters military but unable (for security reasons, ya understand) to demonstrate the source of his knowledge to us mere mortals. A superior knowledge that includes, for instance, some way for F16s to selectively machine-gun the ‘bad guys’ in a nighttime urban environment. And Acts of War be damned, while we’re at it.

So yeah, the entertainment value of this thread remains high. I’m still laughing, anyway.

Declining to divulge information is what I did. I can neither confirm nor deny what it is you think I might know.

If I were tasked with covering up the truth that the response to Benghazi was botched, I’d instruct my Internet shills to argue as these two have. I can’t imagine less persuasive arguments: no evidence, appeals to personal expertise, the inability to keep the basic facts of the incident straight, and a refusal to answer honest questions.

It’s kinda sad, really. :frowning:

Hey, loose lips sink ships. Especially with a Canadian girlfriend and all.

Like your name being a shorthand term for “Lobotomy?”

Lobotomyman?
