My fiancee and I would like to share a mobile plan. We are current enrolled in a $99/month plan thru Sprint that includes 1500 minutes and unlimited texting. What we really need is about 400 minutes total on 2 lines, with unlimited texting (and maybe unlimited data). All the plans we can find (thru Verizon, AT&T, etc) are in the range of $69 with no texting (typically $15-$20 each per line for unlimited texting, additional), or $99 with unlimited texting.
We would really like something in the $60 range, bottom line, each month, with about 400 combined minutes between two lines, and unlimited texting.
Not sure what you’ll find near your hoped-for price point. Staying with Sprint, you should be able to add unlimited texting to any plan you want for an additional $10 or $15, but that may be a “per line” charge, which would put you right back where you started.
Go into a store or dial *2 on your Sprint phone to talk to someone about your options.
I can’t help you with finding the best plan, but a couple of things we learned when we shopped around earlier this year.
Several of the big cellphone providers offer a 450 minute plan, even if it doesn’t show up on their website or in their brochures. If you ask about it, you will get some line about being grandfathered in on it, but we had no problem getting onto that plan, when we switched providers.
Do either of you work for a largish compay that might have negotiated discounts? We are currently getting a 17% discount on monthly rates, due to who I work for. My SO’s employer would have gotten him a 12% discount.
