I saw it a few days ago. I was curious about the logistics as well and figured it was fake when the SUV came skidding around the corner. It’s possible they aren’t ‘hired’ extras but the producer/director just cleared the area and asked someone to go and push the button (and then stay put).
I mean, even if you ignore that, people surely would have seen the cameras all over the place and all the vehicles staged just around the bend.
So now we’ve gotten to the point where we debate whether flawless, tightly-produced commercials are “fake” . . . along with whether the photo on the cover of *Vogue *has been Photoshopped.
Yes. There is huge money involved here, and nothing is left to chance. And the extras are in on it too. They have to be, to get the right kind of reactions. The reason why it’s so enjoyable is that everything in it moves so flawlessly, like a big Rube Goldberg contraption. You cannot do something like that in one take, just to surprise the extras.
