Best and worse novelty song

How about :
Does your chewing gum lose it’s flavor on the bedpost every night? Lonnie Donigan
On Top Of Spaghetti…Tom Glazer and the DO Re mi children’s Choir
Tiptoe through the Tulips…The late Tiny Tim
Here comes the judge…Shorty Long
Leader of the Laundromat…Detergents

Don’t know if it counts as a novelty song (kind of, I think), but does anyone remember:

Coulda been the whiskey,
Mighta been the gin,
Coulda been the 3 or 4 six packs, I don’t know,
But look at the mess I’m in,…

I haven’t heard that in a long time. Does anyone know who did it?

Irish Rovers
here are the words

WASN’T THAT A PARTY

Chorus:

Could’ve been the whiskey
Might’ve been the gin
Could’ve been the three or four six-packs, I don’t know
But look at the mess I’m in
My head is like a football
I think I’m going to die
Tell me, me oh, me oh my
Wasn’t that a party

Someone took a grapefruit
Wore it like a hat
I saw someone under my kitchen table
Talking to my old tom cat
They were talking about hockey
The cat was talking back
Long about then every-thing went black
Wasn’t that a party

CHORUS

I’m sure it’s just my memory
Playing tricks on me
But I think I saw my buddy
Cutting down my neighbour’s tree (

Billy Joe and Tommy
Well they went a little far
They were sitting in the back yard, blowing on a siren
From somebody’s police car
So you see, Your Honour
It was all in fun
The little bitty track meet down on main street
Was just to see if the cops could run
Well they run us in to see you
In an alcoholic haze
I sure can use those thirty days
To recover from the party
Chorus

“…My head is like a football
I think I’m gonna’ die
Me-o Me-o my, wasn’t that a party!”

Hey Cabbage, I’ve had that on a tape for years. Thought I was the only one who remembered it! I wish I knew who did it, or even what it’s called.

Well, poysyn took care of that, I guess.

Thanks, Poysyn!

Well despite my short 20 years, I recall hearing “Wasn’t that a Party” on a record my late Grandfather used to play.

The one he listened to was done by a country artist. Tompaul (sic?).
