led zeppelin, of course…kickass vocals, amazing guitar, thundering guitar and bass, awesome blues/rock sound with a style completely their own…its no wonder they put out the best album of all time: Led Zeppelin II.
The Doors. Period.
How can this subject even be reasonably discussed? Might as well just call the thread “what’s your favorite band?” .
Cafe Society, anyone?
Gotta go with the easy answer. Despite being a young’un, it’s has to be the Beatles
Based just on content and staying power, Aerosmith.
I don’t know its name, but its members were: Jo Jones, drums; Walter Page, bass; Freddie Green, guitar, Teddy Wilson, piano; Buster Bailey, clarinet; Buck Clayton, trumpet; Lester Young, alto sax; and Billie Holliday, vocals.
Hmm… The Rolling Stones or mabe U2
i disagree. this question has a factual answer, which Airman Doors provided: The Doors. Period.
KITH quote - “…right now in Africa there’s some guy madly beating on a drum. He’s a Doors fan. Or an old lady sitting on the bus sucking humbugs. She’s a Rider On The Storm, but she ain’t never heard the sounds.”
hell yea.
The Beatles, simply because in 300 years their songs will still be played on the radio/Internet/tv whathaveyou
Ladies and gentlemen- The Grateful Dead…
Don’t argue with me, I know I’m right
Tie: Rolling Stones pre 1983 and Bowie.
Sheer popularity doesn’t make a great band: the Beatles wrote silly, inconsequential pop tunes for the most part–lot of money, no juice.
Deep Purple.
Mark II.
Ritchie Blackmore is still the coolest right-handed white guy ever to strap on a Fender Stratocaster and go forth to do battle with the forces of evil.
You people are obviously crazy, as the answer is of course: Rush!
This one’s off to Cafe Society.
I never travel far, without a little Big Star
Children by the million sing for Alex Chilton!
I disagree. The last 2 Deep Purple studio albums w/Steve Morse on guitar surpass what Blackmore did. And I’m a big fan of Blackmore!
Though ( as you knew of course) that line is from a song by The Replacements.
The Beatles (too obvious…)
I think Radiohead will be considered up there in a few years.
Time needs to pass before their greatness will be fully appreciated.
The Genesis of the seventies. Next question, please…
Well regardless of what you will say about Deep Purple, what will it take for people to realise that the Fender Stratocaster is by no means any sort of match for the Gibson Les Paul?
Gibson epitomised all that is necessary for Coolness in a guitar in the Flying V.
There is no contest.
[HIJACK]
Les Paul - Slash
- Keith Richards
- Gary Moore
Strat - Eric Clapton
- Jimi Hendrix
- Dave Gilmour
- The Edge
Coolness is a matter of opinion, but I’ll stick to my strat.
