Best Christmas gift EV--ER!

My daughter found me the cutest origami paper while she was in New York.

I told her about Pearl River Mart in Soho and so she went. I wanted pictures inside. You know, so I could be vicariously there. I have ordered art papers from them for years. Alas, Never gonna go there.

I love origami. Have fiddled with it for years. With some success. We put Jerusalem stars on the Christmas tree(sacrilege? maybe. Don’t be offended) they are not strictly origami because you use strips of of paper not squares. But, you get it. I like paper folding and craft.

Anyway, it never occured to me I can do it while bored at Dialysis. And now I got pretty pretty paper. (No it’s not stripedy) It’s some vintage looking oriental print. And I love it.

So happy.

My daughter gave me this sweater. I’m pretty stoked about it.

Love that Sweater!

I was a helicopter pilot in the Army, 1980-85. Hadn’t flown since but always wanted to fly a Bell 47, the MASH helicopter. Three years ago my wife got me an hour of time in one. Had to fly with an instructor since I wasn’t current. Flying was easy and I could still hover. Best Christmas gift she ever gave me.

I like using real origami paper. It’s thinner than regular printer paper and folds better, and it already comes in squares so you don’t have to cut it square yourself. And the patterned print can make interesting results, depending on how you fold it. Have fun, Beck!

Hey. Big plus I didn’t notice. It’s double sided.

The kids are gonna learn a simple butterfly, tomorrow maybe. Yeah, I promised.

But I can see pretty cranes in my future.

While The Waitresses long version of “Christmas Wrapping” (5 minutes 19 seconds!) played in the background, I unwrapped a new Roku Ultra, the new deluxe version of “Dogma”, new flannel pajamas, sugar-free chocolates, and a membership to the LA WorldCon next year. Then we all sat and watched “A Wish For Wings That Work”, “Treevenge”, and what seemed like 787 different versions of “A Christmas Carol”…including, of course, “A Blackadder Christmas Carol” and the Mr. Magoo Christmas movie.

My husband once got me an editor for Christmas. That’s how I knew he really believed in my writing. He interviewed a bunch and then gave me his top three choices with all his notes. The editor loved the book and is still a good friend of mine.

I kept telling him I was gonna win Christmas that year - I got him a custom made X-Men playmat for Marvel Legendary deck building game and an engraved storage box for his cards.

He was like, “Nope. I’ve got this one.”

“You can’t possibly.”

He was right.

Well we almost had the immortalized “All I want for Christmas is my Two front teeth” theme this year.

My Dil and Son have had the middle child at the ER.

She found one of those pull rings for cooking oil bottles, kid treats and many things in your house. A big one. And for some stupid reason she jammed the ring part between her two front teeth. (I don’t know why, don’t ask)

Anyway when she realized it was stuck she started wiggling it. It bled, she screamed. Ran to Mom. Who screamed at her bloodied little girl.

Dad and everyone came running. Confusion ensued, tryna figure out the source of her leakage. All the while all kids are screaming now. A few pets too.

She actually loosened the ligaments from her two PERMANENT front teeth.

After extracting the object. Which wasn’t easy with a screaming wriggling 7 year old, The ER sent them to an Emergency dentist in Texarkana.

He called in his appliance person and they wired her 4 front teeth together.

Sing a song of woe little girl. Nana feels your pain.

PSA…if you have little kids watch those ring pulls. Seems an innocent thing. In fact we believe this one was from one of those squeeze applesauce things, made for children.

Yikes! Hope she heals up quickly.
