Best Conan Moment......Ever

Just now I was watching a Conan O’Brian rerun, and my favorite moment ever was re-run. He’s showing a montage of his, Max’s, and Joel’s Oscar party and they experience technical difficulties. Conan goes “Wha?” and jumps up on his desk and starts stripping. Brilliant. Don’tcha just love that man?

I don’t think I’ve seen that one. Not to hijack the thread or anything, but I think that the best Conan moment ever can be summed up in three words and a hyphen: Camel-Toe Annie.

snort didn’t see those two, but my personal fave is his parody of Letterman’s dumb ads. He pretty much takes a regular ad and makes it as bizarre and outlandish as possible. There was a car ad that said something like “This is the kind of car Jesus would drive if he were alive.” And a grocery store sale flyer with mayonaisse on sale and in tiny letters underneath it said “Men who cannot get mayonaisse at home will seek it outside the marriage.” I was dyin’!

My favorite one showed a little inflatable kiddy pool with a translucent kid poorly superimposed over it. The caption read: “Little Timmy’s ghost says, ‘This is the pool I died in!’”

My other favorite moment was during one of the In The Year 2000 bits… “The American Rapists Society officially declares that ‘No’ means ‘Yes.’”

Well, I was going to say ‘Conan and the Pirate Queen’ but I realise now that we’re talking about a different Conan

Anyone remember that really bizarre one where Conan accuses Max Weinberg of loving no one but himself, and we then see Max actually HAVING SEX with himself?

Fucked me up.

I still crack up thinking about the bit where Andy went to the Weather Channel studios wearing a suit the exact same shade of blue as the bluescreens.

And when Conan commandeered an NBC studio tour. Hi-larious.

My favorite was a carpet ad. There was a little picture of the Kaiser, and in a bubble coming out of his mouth, "The Carpet Kaiser sez “Damn that treaty of Versailles!”

Andy Richter at Woodstock.

Woman Island!
When Conan revealed that, as with child actors, there are really three different Andys. On went on while the others napped.

“Yo, White Bread. I’m doin’ fine, and cherry wine. My Hos is all health-code compliant and my crotch be bigger than the Iron Giant. Got new software to last longer, and a new super ho named Darva Conger. Let me tell you, nothing better happen to hurt my man Triumph’s wallet. He be my best customer. Women, dog bitches, reptiles, all kinds of freak-y stuff. That horn dog paid for my brand- new Cherry Red Buick Riviera!” ~PimpBot 5000 "

I’m quite partial to the “In The Year 2000” bit, and the guy that sings in the background is hilarious. I also love the ones where Conan is telling a story of what he and his buddies did, but with pictures. Can’t think of any of those skits off the top of my head though.

Three nominations from me:

#1–by far–Triumph the insult comic dog at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Total insane hilarity all the way through. I’m a big Triumph fan, though.

#2–Andy at a rock and roll hall of fame party where he was trying to convince various people to put Thin Lizzy in the HOF.

#3–Andy’s version of the Boyz 2 Men video where he plays the roles of all the boyz 2 men guys.

(I was sad when Andy left the show, as you can maybe tell.)

Yes, last night was some of the best hilarity I’ve ever seen. It was funniest when he stopped right in the middle and said “C’mon, this isn’t cable! Is it fixed yet?”

I also think Conan’s staring contests are pretty good. The highlight of the show would have to be when they’re looking through NBC’s channel guide (since they have that giant satellite dish, you know) and they come across the Potato Judge channel. That had to be single funniest 45 seconds on television.

I have several.

  1. Anything with Pimpbot. Particularly the one where he was selling tickets to the free Garth Brooks concert in Central Park.

  2. Anything with Triumph. The sketch where he went in and insulted all of the people sitting in line for Star Wars II. Pure genius. Also the time he insulted the upcoming guests (What if God was one of us…what if…TOMORROW’S SHOW DIDN’T SUCK?!)

  3. The Graduation Speech sketch, where they have Max supposedly speaking at the Oxford graduation ceremony and he says, “Some of you may go on to be millionaires. Some of you may go on to be world leaders. But remember this. No matter what you may accomplish, you’ll never be American.” That cracked me up.

I love Conan so much. BRING BACK ANDY!

“Thin, Thin Ice” - Scott Thompson as Tonya Harding, spangly tutu and all. Best sketch ever!

  1. “For the love of god, just let the bear masturbate!”

  2. Potato Judge

  3. Max making love to himself

  4. Stacken-blocken. (“No! Nein stackenblocken!”)

  5. The scene described in the OP, where Conan starts to strip.

Has no one here seen Triumph the Insult Comic dog at the line for Star Wars Ep 2? Oh my god! That is easily the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on TV!

I’m partial to Camel Toe Annie, myself. I find the song–and it’s really catchy–running through my head on a regular basis. I’ll select a more somber and touching moment: Andy Richter’s last episode. When Conan’s voice broke towards the end, I suddenly burst into tears myself. Beautiful stuff. I think the Max Weinberg 7 could totally trounce both Kevin Eubanks and Paul Shaffer.

When Conan convinces Andy that NBC has a Turkish bath and then pushes a naked Andy through the double doors and onto the set of the Today show.

Do we forget so soon the Masturbating Bear? The moment the bear was revealed to be Jim Carrey has to be at the top of my list.

Also near the top is when Conan took a trip to Ireland. He’s at the Cliffs of Mohr (sp?), talking about the castle in the background (“its my castle!”), and the wind is nearly blowing people into the ocean. He makes a quick side comment about how he couldn’t possibly imagine why his ancestors left this place.
