My coworker dropped her new digital camera in a toilet on her recent trip to England. It can’t be repaired. She’d like to get a new camera, but doesn’t know what to get. I’m better with film cameras than digital ones, and I got good advice in the other thread about which camera I should get for myself. So I turn to you to ask…
What is the best compact digital camera available for under $200?
She will be using it for snapshots.
Sony cybershots are really good point and shoot digital cameras. Just find the one the most bells and whistles for under $200 and get that one.
For my current trip to England, I bought a Panasonic FP2. It’s been fantastic. Quick to start up, quick to catch the shot I want… battery life could maybe be a little better, but I don’t have any comparisons, so can’t say for sure.

Canon SD1300 would be my choice. I’ve used most of the cameras in this review and I agree with his conclusions.
Thanks. I’ve sent the information to my coworker.
