Best Droid games recomendations?

What in your opinion, is the best game for the Droid?

I’m wanting one where I can just pay outright for the game and not have to pay for power ups and deal with ads.

Elder Sign: Omens is kind of fun.

$3.99 or so and no ads.

It might be helpful if you would give us some idea what genres you’re interested in. Without that, I’ll just list the paid games I’ve played recently and enjoyed, in no particular order.

Robo Defence - A simple well designed tower defence game, I swear this game has eaten more hours of my life than any other. This is probably the best couple bucks I ever spent on google play.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Yes, you can play the Bioware RPG on your android now. I played it back in the day, and I found it was adapted fairly well to touchscreen controls. I did find it a bit pricey for an android game, but you do get what you pay for.

Final Fantasy IV - Originally released as FF2 on the SNES, it’s been updated to a 3d engine. If you are into the FF games, the first six have been ported to android now. Like KOTOR, they’re not cheap however.

Cut the Rope - A very fun physics based puzzle game, where you … wait for it … cut the rope.

Fruit Ninja - A game where you slice and dice fruit. I find it oddly therapeutic.

Minecraft: Pocket Edition - Ok, I don’t actually play this one, but my kids swear by it.

Hearthstone - Blizzards collectable card game is quite fun. I’m not sure if this will count for you, as it’s technically free, while they sell booster packs of cards. No ads though.

I will also point out that you can run DosBox turbo on a tablet and play any of those old dos games you might have or buy from GoG. I started playing Master of Orion 2 like this after I got worked up over the upcoming reboot, and it works really well on a tablet.

I also have played a few city builders and strategy games that were fun, but I can’t think of a single one that didn’t boil down to pay to win. Anyone have any suggestions in those areas?

Shit, I still play an android version of Tetris.

There’s a game called Warship Battle that I like, but it’s constantly trying to suck money out of me.

The XCOM games are very well-regarded as some of the only true AAA gaming experiences available on a mobile platform.

They are AAA games, though, so make sure your device can handle them both in terms of processing power and storage space.

I recommended it before but I had a lot of fun with You Must Build a Boat.

Also Wargames (based on the movie).

The Room and its sequel are great if you enjoy puzzle games.

Out There is a simplistic, but enjoyable rogue-like with pleasant graphics.

Kingdom Rush is fun if you like tower defense, and you don’t need to use their micropayments to enjoy the game.

Super Hexagon is a great twitch game. Great to play in very short bursts, but best with headphones.

Neuroshima Hex is a turn-based strategy game that’s best played with another player. I introduced my wife to it a few years ago and she got hooked.

Seconding X-COM and Final Fantasy. If you’re into classic Squaresoft RPGs, Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana are also available. The control for SoM is a little squiffy on mobile, but still a great game. Chrono Trigger is one of the greatest RPGs ever made.

Lara Croft Go, Quell, and Monument Valley are all fun puzzle games.
