This one is better: http://youtube.com/watch?v=V0V7p2NecIo
Another submission for overwhelmingly upbeat: Tomoe by Smile.dk. “Tomoe” is Japanese for circle, by the way (they have a habit of making songs centered around one Japanese phrase repeated over and over, if you couldn’t tell).
Valete,
Vox Imperatoris
ETA: And another foreign language submission, this time in German. Boomerang by Blümchen. She recorded English versions of that entire album, too, but they’re not as good (and mostly not on Youtube).
Tim Armstrong, Into Action
Boomin by Tobymac. Christian rap so it actually has the word “God” in it but it’s generic.
Laterus - something with the mathematical perspective of music you could work into the lesson. There is so much math involved in music you could make this a regular theme when introducing different genres.
I do love the song Million Miles from Home by Dune. It’s probably too rave-y, though.
Valete,
Vox Imperatoris
You’re in a school and you want somethin’ rockin’…what better than School’s Out by Alice Cooper?!
A Neverending Dream by X-Perience is a good choice, and it also has had a recent cover by Cascada. Also, does it seem to anyone else that Cascada has a Southern accent (noticeable in “I believe I’ve received…” and especially in other songs)? Which would be strange because she’s German, of English descent (which is noticeable in the parts of that song where she changes her tone, “I’m waiting for the night…”).
Valete,
Vox Imperatoris
No. That would be this one…
Combustible Edison - Vertigogo
YES, it was driving me crazy trying to figure out the name of this one!!!
I know it was in the movie “Four Rooms”, and also “The Truman Show” trailer.
Great thread OP!
Couldn’t just look up the lyrics?
Haha. Exactly my problem. I couldn’t think of the name of the movie I saw it in, so all I had to go by were the lyrics!
Good addition to the thread tds1273!

Sound Sytem!
by Op Ivy is my favorite dance song ever, fun upbeat and bouncy and clean enough for kids.
Also in that vein:
Ruby Soho by Rancid. Also punk that is clean enough for kids, and very dancable.
Maybe LCD soundsystem would work too. Try North American Scum.
I will think of more. I’ll go look at my ipod for inspiration at lunch.
