Best gift I ever gave:
A girl I was seeing (not exclusively) lived out of state and had flown in to visit me several times. At the same time she was seeing another guy who lived in her city who was extremely jealous that she was seeing me. I decided to fly in to see her over a weekend over a month ahead of time for her birthday. She was glad and made plans to spend the weekend with me. Then the “other guy” then trys to tell her that he got concert tickets to ‘Sting’ (her favorite) for that weekend. She tells him “sorry, I’d really love to go but Hampshire’s coming that weekend.” He tells her “But Sting doesn’t come to town that often” to which she replies “well, Hampshire doesn’t come to town that often.”
I hear this second hand and the guys really pissed off about it. So, I proceed to call ticketmaster and get some tickets for the concert myself. When I arrived at the airport she picked me up and I gave her her birthday card. She found the tickets inside and was totally suprised and thrilled. We went to the concert that night. I would have loved to see that guys face when he found out about it later.
Best gift I ever got:
I was working retail management and got stuck with working an overnighter on my birthday while contractors did some remodeling. All I had to do was hang out by the front door and check their toolboxes as they came and left the store.
A girl that I had just started seeing called me at midnight on my cellphone to say happy birthday which was nice. I told her I was tired and needed some coffee but the starbucks next door was closed. I told her goodnight and that i’d call her tommorow. About an hour later she shows up with a thermos filled with hot coffee. After hanging up with me she went to the store, bought coffee, a new thermos, went home, made the coffee, and brought it to me as a birthday present. She then stayed up with me til morning just chatting all night outside the front of the store sipping coffee.
