Come brag on your gift giving skills...

Over in this thread. People are talking about some great gifts that they’ve given, received and such like. So that got me thinking. What are some gifts that you’ve either given, or received, that were just perfect. For example:

My wife loved happy crafty pictury things. She got her dad a talking photo album one year, got a jewelry box with photo inserts for her mom…stuff like that. I personally, couldn’t care less about that sort of thing. But I know she likes it. So for Christmas this year, I got a bunch of pictures of her and I growing up, ad wrote a little story for her. You know “Once upon a time, there was a little boy named X, and a little girl called Y”. I used the pictures of us growing up through the story, talked about us meeting, and for our wedding day, and vacations we’ve been on. I used a wedding picture, then took apart one of those talking frames, and put the guts of it between two pages, and recorded our wedding song on it, so that when she pushes on the page, it plays part of our wedding song. I managed to find a nice cork spiral book, and took the pages out to print the story and pictures on, so she has a nice book, that will hold up a long time. She loved it, was in tears, and I have to say that I was pretty proud of myself.

For our anniversary last year. Since it was our 2nd, and we’re trying to do the traditional gifts, it was cotton. So I had a graphic design friend of mine, create me a logo for us. Since we were married on board ship, she made an image of the ship, with our initials, and the year we were married on it. I took that logo, and had it made into an embroidered patch, and sewn on a nice set of cotton lounging pj’s that I got from Victoria’s Secret. Again, I was fairly proud of the way that turned out. They look great.

So, what presents have you given, that you are proud of. Either in the uniqueness, or in how the gift demonstrated your knowledge and understanding for your partner.

And I admit to having an ulterior motive. This year is leather for our anniversary, and I’m stumped. She has a leather jacket, more purses than I can count, and I know better than to try and buy her shoes. So I’m hoping I’ll see something here to give me an idea.

Leather, huh? How 'bout a leather vest with your logo embroidered on the back (assuming you guys have a motorcycle). waaaaay cool!

I’m going to lurk in this thread in hope of picking up some tips.

Best gift for my older brother: When we were growing up, he LOVED “Quisp” cereal. They hadn’t sold it locally for years, but I found it on the internet and gave 3 boxes of it to him for his 40th birthday. (For his 30th birthday I gave him a cane, with a bicycle hord attached.)

Best gift - Boss: A gargolye riding a motorcycle - but I wrapped the gift in duct tape, complete with a bow. Such a GUY present.

Best gift - husband: Sent him to his mom’s for thanksgiving last year.

Best gift - Mom-in-law: not going.

Good gifts are the ones that are thoughtful - you don’t have to spend lots of money to be remembered.

I’m so good at buying Mrs. Z gifts that it makes her feel bad about her gift giving abilities.

Various christmas gifts for her include.

A sword, a dagger and a tiaria. (She loves all of them)
Various clothing and jewlery items.

At a bridal shower that was ‘for the groom as well’ I was the only person to get the groom a gift. Duct tape and WD-40! (in a box covered in duct tape natch)

Oh and I forgot the best gift for Mrs. Z.

A handmade Irish cloak. My big gift for her is one of the Christmas highlights so I’m starting to feel the strain of keeping it up.
