Best meat slicer for around $300

I’m looking for a good meat slicer. The restaurant grade machines start at around $600 for a low end Hobart. I don’t want the cheesy plastic 6 inch serrated bladed $100 models you get from Cabella’s. I’m looking for something in the $300 dollar range that small coffee shop or sandwich place might have. Anybody know of a good brand. It seems like I’m seeing a lot of brands I’ve never heard of.

Check used restaurant equipment. The problem is that a working slicer used is worth almost as much as a new one. I’ve never seen a consumer quality slicer that was worth the cost. That doesn’t mean there aren’t any, but it takes a powerful motor and large disc to slice through something like roast beef, and even softer foods will tend to gunk up a low end slicer.

There are a bunch of them on Craigslist, at least here in Chicago.

This seems like the type of thing that is worth spending the extra money on a commercial one. They do seem to hold their value pretty well.
