Best Moments for Looney Tunes Characters

I think the actual quote is “Okay, Toro. Whenever you can spare the time.”

Man, this thread brings back some great memories.

Foghorn Leghorn - “I swear, kids coming up these days don’t know how to tie down their own pumpkin.”

Daffy Duck - pretty much all of Duck Amok

So many of my favourite lines have already been covered, but here’s a couple more:

“Operator! Operator! We’ve been . . . . disconnected.” Officer somebody or other, from a Bugs vs. the Mobsters cartoon

“I’m rich! I’m wealthy! I’m a happy miser!” Daffy Duck, embracing the pearl in the oyster that’s about the same size he is after the genie shrunk him.

“Your ARROW, sir. AND my resignation!” The butler, spanking the bejesus out of the little Native American oil tycoon who has been trying (unsuccessfully) to kill this bitty moose with a huge head.

“What your step.” Bugs Bunny to Elmer Fudd, as he leads Fudd to the ultimate worst seat in the house.

“My name is Elmer J. Fudd, millionaire. I own a mansion and a yacht.”

“Wile E. Coyote, super genius. I like the way that rolls out. Wile E. Coyote, super genius.”

Beaky Buzzard
I caught myself a baby bumble bee,
Won’t my mommy be so proud of me…

BUGS (in gangster outfit): It’s curtains for you, Rocky, CURTAINS!
[quickly puts a set of curtains on Rocky’s head]
ROCKY: Oh, they’re adorable!

Three Bears
Papa Bear (sips porrdige and grumpily reads his line): My porridge is too hot.

Mama Bear (sips porridge and clears throat to read line): My porridge is too hot, too.

Baby Bear (sips porridge): Duuuhh… sombody’s been sleeping in my bed?

Mama Bear (fluttering eyes to Bugs): Tell me more about my eyes.

Yosemite Sam: Dragons is stupid!

PORKY (to the baby): What’s your name?

BABY: Butch.

PORKY: Oh, B-B-B-B-B-B-B-Butch.

BABY: No, not B-B-B-B-B-B-B-Butch. Just BUUUUUTCH!

Here’s a link to the Censored Cartoons page. It contains a list of material that has been removed by the television networks for various reasons. You don’t realize how much these cartoons have been hacked until yousee this.

There’s also a very poor streamed version of this cartoon somewhere out there. Euty would know the link although it’s probably not too hard to find through google.

Not from a recurring character, but…

*I love to singa’
About the Moon-a in a jun-a
and a spring-a
*

A crooner!! I love it when Owl Jolson is singing classical and quietly switches to Jazz and then back to Classical.

Bearflag70: It’s “Dragons is so stupid.” This was a running joke back in the days when I played D&D 2-3 times a week.

“I hated to have to kill them all, but they needed to be taught a lesson”

  • Ralph Phillips (my own little mantra…)

Hubie and Bert’s upside-down room for Claude (I really miss poor ol’ Claude)

“my name’s So White, but my hair’s coal black;
I washes all day, and gets the bluu-uuesss in de niiight…

Someone asked if Mel Blanc did all the voices. June Foray did some, and she should be more recognized.

From the same ep:

“Well, how do ya like that! It’s not even a real carrot! It’s aluminuminumum!”

That was me. I was wondering more about the celebrity cameos, though; did Mel do those as well, or did WB get some of the actual actors to step in from time to time? I’m thinking specifically of Bogart, Lorre, and Crosby.

Foghorn Leghorn:

No, I’m not gonna look. I might, I say I just might be in there!

Daffy:
It’s not ‘he doesn’t have to shoot YOU now’, it’s ‘he doesn’t have to shoot ME now’. But he does so have to shoot me now. I demand that you shoot me now! So shoot me now!

The whole Bugs Bunny/Giovanni Jones one is a scream from beginning to end, especially when Bugs is playing his banjo and singing outside the opera singer’s house, and the opera singer starts singing the same song by accident!
Later, Bugs saying something like ‘That’s a good big fat opera singer!’

Oh, well, I’m pretty sure the Jack-Benny-as-mouse cartoon is all the real voices.

Yes, "The Mouse That Jack Built " features the voices of Jack Benny, Mary Livingston, Rochester, and Don Wilson (as well as Mel Blanc).

Most voices were done by voice actresses/actors - BCDB has extensive credits (and look accurate to me, but I’m not an expert) - search on the title, than click on “full cast list”.

and Jerry Beck (who has programmed the WB releases for many years) has a new book out on LT minutia - or see his site www.cartoonresearch.com.

“Speedy Gonzales knows EVERYBODY’S seester”

Another Foghorn Leghorn:

I keep my feathers numbered for just such an emergency…

I can recall him giving his name once. He had gotten Porky to take him in by whispering something in his ear (we are left to infer that he whispered that he’s going to have puppies). Porky puts him in bed and brings him tea (or something) and asks, “Is there anything else I can get for you… what’s your name anyway?”

“Charlie.”

“…CHARLIE?!” Porky realizes he’s not a girl dog and kicks him out.

I remember this because I had a dog named Charlie at the time.

The best part about this is that Foghorn is playing hide and seek with the little egghead bird (I forget his name), and you see Foghorn climb into something to hide. The little egghead does some calculations and determines Foghorn to be in a different spot, and indeed, there he is! Foghorn is baffled, and goes over to his original hiding place, but decides not to look in, because he just might be in there!

Schrodinger’s Rooster!!

Another great gag. The beavers damming the river in “The Eager Beavers.” A whole bunch of angry beavers shouting obscenities.

Blankity blank blank
