I just receive the best phishing email.
It was just the subject line:
Scam Victim Compensation ,($500,000)have been awarded to you. contact email with your Name,Age,Sex, Country,Phone Number and Address sent to Mrs Joan Cole email:something12@yahoo.com.hk
“We don’t know your name, age, sex, or even what country you live in, but we’ve awarded you half a million. It’s in U.S. dollars, even though we’re in Hong Kong using a Yahoo email address.”
That’s actually kind of brilliant, calling it “Scam victim compensation”. They’re figuring that if you’ve already fallen for one one scam, you’re gullible enough to fall for another one. They’re marketing to their target audience.
Not really a phishing email, but I got a glurgespam email (you know the type) that ended with “Send to 12 people” yadda yadda yadda. What made me smile was the corporate signature block at the end: “you are strictly prohibited from disclosing, distributing, copying, or in any way using this message.” Problem solved! (Was going to do that anyways, come to think of it … )
My favorite really looked professionally done and very like the emails the company sends out. However the email address was something ridiculous even better though if you hovered over the ‘link’ you’d see it connected to
somerandomname/phishing
Jesus. Who is dumb enough to see that and not know what was going on? I once saw a file that said it was a patch of a game but the link said ‘getfuct.exe’ curious I scanned it and it was loaded to the gills with adware and spyware garbage.
