Sorry for posting such a simple question in GQ, but I’m not sure where else it would go. Mods, please move it if appropriate.
I’m setting up a big file server for a friend’s business, and he’s going to be using recordable DVDs to do his backups. But one of the files they use is a giant 5.5GB database, and so I thought we were out of luck until I remembered that they actually make dual-layer DVD+/-R discs. (Since I never have use for them myself, I had forgotten they even existed.)
I went to Best Buy and got lucky on a 20-pack that was on sale for $29.99, but the sale is over now and their regular prices are more like $45-$50 for a 20 pack. Can anybody point me to an online vendor that’s significantly cheaper? I tried a Google product search, and the best price I found was here, at $34.99 for a 25-pack. That seems like a darn good price to me, but I’d prefer 4x discs instead of 2.4x if possible (it appears that only DVD-R dual layers are capable of 4x recording, but I could be wrong; in any case, either +R or -R will work fine).
So, does anybody else know of a cheap and reliable source for some dual-layer discs? Thanks for any help!
