Best restaurants/eateries in South Bay (CA)

What restaurants/eateries can you recommend a couple of college students?

One of our favorites is C&O Trattoria in Marina Del Rey. Although it’s a bit of a drive from Long Beach, it’s definitely worth it. Good prices, nice quantities, lively atmosphere.

I always thought south bay was the San Jose/ Milpitas area. I did eat at a nice restaurant in Monterrey but I dont remember the name.

In Sunnyvale, the Country Gourmet at Fremont and Mary. It’s one of the best restaurants there is. I wish they’d clone it here in Seattle. They have awesome sammiches and salads, and a great menu of specials. It’s probably my all-time favorite restaurant, since it can be depended upon to have something great for everyone.

I think in this case, the South Bay refers to farther south:

Torrance
Redondo Beach
Manhattan Beach
Hermosa Beach
et cetera…

I lived up there, but my family never really went out to nice joints.

I could maybe recommend Drago which is an Italian place on (I think) Wilshire Blvd? It’s in West LA.

The one nice restaurant I ever remember going to (or my parents going to) was the Velvet Turtle. I have no idea what part of town it was in, or whether it’s still open or not. I just know that’s where birthdays and anniversaries were spent.
