Since it looks like William Manchester isn’t going to do any more Winston Churchill books, my question is: what’s the best single-volume Churchill biography?
You might want to check out Roy Jenkins’ recent effort. I haven’t read this myself, so I’m going by the reviews I’ve read, which have been favourable. Unusually for a biographer, Jenkins had held high office himself (former Labour cabinet minister) and like his subject he’d “crossed the house” (moved from one political party to another), so these might give him a different perspective to the average biographer.
