Best Super Bowl Commercial, now or ever.

Please have a video/YouTube connection, we’d like to see.

My Vote:

Terry Tate Office Linebacker

was about to post one of the triple T vids but I see you beat me to it

^That’s the first thing I thought of, also.

Other favorites:

FedEx: Castaway
EDS Cat-Herders
The Michael Jordan and Larry Bird ads for McDonalds.
Monster.com

I’m sure I’ll be able to think of more tomorrow.

Something to help you jog your memory.

By far the 2004 Sierra Mist commercial where the bagpipers are marching in the parade and the commander says, “Where’s Wallace?” And then it cuts to a guy standing over a subway grate Marilyn Monroe style and steam billowing up into his kilt. The kicker is when the little kid looks at him and says, “That’s just wrong daddy” and the dad covers the kid’s eyes. Wicked hilarious.

I don’t remember the company (ahh, the power of advertising) but there was an on-line investment firm that had one during the dot com boom a few years ago with a couple of old guys sitting in lawn chairs in their driveway watching a chimp perform some stupid tricks. At the end the voiceover says “We just blew five million dollars. What are you doing with your money?”

Isn’t there some kind of pop culture rule that dictates that you HAVE to say the Apple MacIntosh 1984 commercial is the best there was or ever will be?

Personally, I gotta go with the FedEx pigeon commercial from 2008, partially because my brother was one of the brains behind the production of it.

The company was e-trade, and I agree, absolutely hilarious.

This is the best one I remember ever seeing:

It’s the Pepsi commercial with 11 year old Jimi Hendrix trying to choose between a Coca-Cola or a Pepsi. Far better IMHO than all the fart jokes, Clydesdales, and Ow My Balls commercials aired during Super Bowls since.

Runner up would be the cat herder commercial nominated in a prior post (although I don’t remember what that one was advertising).

I don’t know if it’s the best of all time, but I can’t help but crack up everytime I see it. Maybe one of the best of this years batch, along with the other Dorito’s Crystal Ball commercials.
Dorito’s Beer Flavor

And here it is.

I think it wasn’t actually aired, but Eels planned to purchase an advertising spot for their album Useless Trinkets last year… Unfortunately, superbowl ad time being as expensive as it is, it had to be edited a bit.

One second long? That’s an eternity. Here’s a half-second ad from this year (okay, a local-market ad, but still).

It’s not a rule that you have to say that, but it is the most obvious and correct answer.

I look forward to and LOVE all of the Budweiser Clydesdale ads.

Those horses are beautiful and the commercial itself usually tells a great story.

This one (from last year) is one of my all time favorites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fc1ADvKwWXU

Another vote for the EDS cat herders. I love that!

EDS stood for Electronic Data Services, formerly a subsidiary of GM, now for Hewlett-Packard, though they never said exactly what it was in the commercial.

Also, other favorite ads (besides the already-mentioned Doritos crystal ball and e-Trade):

Pepsi: Your Cheatin’ Heart
Anything with the Budweiser Clydesdales.

Absolutely! Especially the little girl as Lucy at the end.

Here’s a short ad (either one second or half-second) that ran in a good portion of the country this year. (We didn’t get it in the NYC area, but it apparently aired in over 60 markets.)

For a single, it’s the cat herders for me. You just gotta love cowboys sitting around the campfire using lint rollers.

As a group, over the years, it’s the Budweiser Clydesdales
