Best Time To Interview?

If you’re given a two-week window to pick an interview date, would you pick the start, middle, or end? The start may leave you forgotten. At the end, it could be too late because they’ve already made their selection and they’re just going through the motions.

So, which would you pick as the ideal timeslot (in a two-week window) for an interview and why?

There’s an old saying – the only two cars you notice on a train are the engine and the caboose.

Some like being first, some like being last – no one likes being in the middle.

As for me, I like being last. Assuming they haven’t already made up their mind, there’s a pretty good chance they’ll ask you questions to test you against the earlier candidates. All you have to do is hold your own on those, and make a generally good impression otherwise.

Companies often don’t want to spend weeks interviewing a dozen candidates. If they find a good candidate, they will often make them an offer.

I say try to interview as soon as possible.

Not the middle.

My guess is that either the beginning OR the end are fine; if you are the right person for the job, either primacy or recently effect will work in your favour.
