Best way to create another gmail address with existing account in 2013?

Hey all,

So… I want to create a NEW, secondary address on my EXISTING gmail account. This should be easy, right? (Okay, it probably is if you know how to do it… :stuck_out_tongue: The problem is that there seem to be about 4387509382754.pi versions of advice on the best way to actually accomplish this. A lot of the problem seems to be based on the fact that Google is constantly changing everything-- advice from last year (much less two or three years ago) seems to be outdated and not very helpful now.

Does anyone know the BEST way to add another address on an existing account as of right now, this second, 12:43 pm PST August 10, 2013??

(Oh, y’all are so smart!! I’m sure you do.)

There are three answers, depending on what you’re really asking.

You can create a new address by using the plus sign and appending anything you like. So if you are anise@gmail.com you can also use anise+foo@gmail.com.

If you use google apps, you can create new addresses for your domain under the “user and groups” option.

But what I suspect you want to do is add email from an account that already exists, say anise@foo.com. Go to Settings, select Settings, then Accounts, and then “Add a Pop3 mail account you own.”

Well, thanks… but basically, I just created a brand new account. I think it’s the easiest way right now, and it got it done.
