Best way to keep collectibles safely on shelves..?

I want to put some collectible items on a shelf, but I am worried about them being knocked off by me, kids, cats, etc. Is there a glue or sticky gel of some kind made to keep items in place without damaging them?

I am tempted to use plain old washable Elmer’s glue, but I’m not sure if that would be okay. I don’t want them to stay for -absolute- ever, I just don’t want them to fall off easily.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Bethany

There is a product called Earthquake Wax. It was designed for just what it sounds like – to protect shelved items during earthquakes. It works pretty well. I use it to protect my collection of teacups and saucers from accidental bumps with the vacuum cleaner, or from the dog, and so far, so good.

I’m not sure what the board guidelines are about linking directly to product purchasing info, so I suggest Googling for it.

Another product I know a lot of people use is stuff called “Quake Hold”.
