What’s the best way to sell some extra Sarah McLachlan tickets online ? I’m selling them at cost, not looking to profit on them. They are Sec 303, row K, seats 3-4, cost is $170. Any idea the best way to find local people who are interested?
thanks.
Well, one way to get rid of them would be to come to our upcoming TronnaDope and allow delighted TronnaDopers to outbid each other on them…

…but then I saw the price. You can tell I haven’t been to a Serious Concert for a while…
When is the concert?
I probably shouldn’t suggest this, but I used to have a bit of luck on eBay, particularly on sold-out shows.
Mrs. Chastain and I used to snap up tickets for hot shows every so often, and sell them there. We didn’t make enough to live like kings, but we never got stuck with any pairs, either.
Might be worth a glance, though.
D’oh ! :smack:
I knew I forgot something … Fri Aug 20 at the Molson Amphitheatre.
You could try calling the concierge at a luxury hotel like the Four Seasons. They’re always getting tickets for guests, and must get them someplace. Even if they don’t want the tickets, in my experience concierges are a pretty savvy lot who might have a suggestion for you.
Isn’t this kind of spammy? And didn’t you get ripped with the tickets if ticketmaster’s most expensive tickets are $69.50?
You might look at Stubhub; the New York Times had an article about them June 17th. This is from the Stubhub website.
Even if you don’t use the service, you should be able to find out the going price.
Papermache Prince stole my suggestion. I didn’t have any takers when I used it, but there’s certainly no reason not to try!
Another way might be to post sooner – I already have my tickets for that concert, so sorry, mate.
I often see classified ads for that sort of thing, too. A small expense, but it migt be worth it.
Good luck!
I have nothing factual to contribute…
I would consider going, but that price is just way out of my range. I’ll just have to remember the days paying $25 to see her at a crummy little garage-turned bar in Hamilton. The ticket price sure makes the now-cancelled Lollapalooza tour seem like a bargain.

Gest - This is why TicketBastard gets bad press.
Concert Ticket = $70
Facility charge = $3.75
Convenience = $8.25
Pickup charge = $3
Bend-over Total = $15
Total ticket = $85 (x2 = $170)
If you want the convenience of printing the off at home, you can ‘save’ money and only pay $5.50 instead of the $3 to pick them up at any TicketMonster outlet.

Cantara:
Thanks for breaking down the extra charges (I probably should have done that to avoid posts like Gest’s). I’ve been p*ssed off at scalpers for a loooong time, and I’ve sold many extra tickets to other concerts at cost that I could have sold for quite a bit of profit. Look at eBay if you want to check the real worth of these tickets – it’s quite a bit more.
PS: I first saw Sarah in 1984 at the UofWaterloo theatre for approx. $10 – and it was a double bill with Grapes Of Wrath - where are they now ?
