It is not for nothing that he reigned for so many years as Stupidest Poster on the Dope.
That’s not the only evidence, either. She talked to a psychologist. There are two other accusers who vouch for the behavior, if not the specific incident. There are his own reactions. There’s the calendar he brought up that is entirely consistent, even mentioning being with Ford’s then boyfriend.
That said, it’s not expected that you will have a ton of evidence without an investigation, and one side is doing their best to prevent one. Now they’ve been cornered into allowing a week of investigation with limits on who can be talked to–but that’s just more of an attempt to hamstring the investigation.
I see people who side with the Republicans shouting “innocent until proven guilty,” but they forget that presumed innocent people are still investigated.
One of us doesn’t understand what those words mean.
When Bill Kristol and George Will have jumped from the party, and are being denounced by the party as Democrats, the OP’s characterization that there are no good Republicans left is getting credible.
Obviously there are low-profile citizens who are still registered as GOP who have not bought into all of this Trump/Pence nonsense, this…Trumppence. But it’s gotten bad.
At this point there is plenty of evidence that Kavanaugh as lied repeatedly under oath. That Kavanaugh has ceeded credibility gives weight to the accusations of Ford and others as being more likely than not true, and even if we don’t (and will never) have objective evidence of the claims of his accusers, his lies on other subjects as well as his behavior during questioning should already have invalidated him for the job.
This idea that he has presumed innocence until proven guilty to a legal standard is nonsense. Kavanaugh isn’t at a criminal trial; he is interviewing for a job, and like most interviews it is as much an evaluation of character as his qualifications. Kavanaugh has shown his character; a boorish, hyperaggressive jerk who avoids giving plain answers to straighforward questions and is trying to ineffectually conceal his past through obvious lies.
That Trump sure knows how to pick the winners, don’t he? If he ran his businesses with the care that he vets nominees, he would have declared bankruptcy multiple times and run oceanfront casinos into the ground.
Stranger
I’m not advocating anything, but hypothetically, what if a new left wing government placed conservatives in reeducation camps where they can have their genitalia shocked and be waterboarded into being patriotic and moral people. What’s good for ‘radical islamic terrorists’ is good for radical christian terrorists…right?
Realistically, you are not helping.
Or Gabrielle Gifford? Or Proud Boys? Can you at least attempt a new version of “evil violent leftists that are looking to destroy the world” instead of screeching the same old moronic drivel? At least be creative in your blindered stupidity.
Realistically, I don’t matter.
We’re headed to a fight, because conservative animals don’t think you should have a democracy. Don’t blame me for pointing out the truth. Stop trying to be rational. Time to put the dogs in their kennels.
Quartz?! Get in your kennel!!!
Translation: You are a supporter of rape and ethnic cleansing who supports bigoted tyrants and wants to see a rapist drunkard put on the Supreme Court. Best of all you want to see it done from thousands of miles away in another country, so you won’t be one of the people rounded up and disposed of, or one of the women raped.
Most of the Republican party is composed of people who would love to help run a Nazi style death camp, as long as they got to wear an American flag armband instead of a swastika one. It’s a vile organization composed of vile people.
QFT
Fuck Quartz
GTFO, bitch
If all the talk is for real, the ones who want it are the Trumpies and the far right, and the so called “alt right”. They sure talk about it a lot. Even that shit stain Giuliani is threatening violence if the Dems take the “midterms” now.
I’ll go a little further.
I’m tired of moderate progressives who stand in our way, trying to be the “voice of reason” when there is no reason.
No use for you anymore. Be silent.
Agreed. Fuck up your own country, Quartz.
Oh, I figured that years ago.
The last Unite the Right was pathetic and Trump’s rallies are happening in smaller venues. We have to stand up with less fear of violence. The point is that fighting effectively against the cosplayer fascists is worrisome, but it is not as fearful as you want to paint it.
Answering the O.P.: I’ve recently taken to reading the National Review website, and I don’t feel dumber afterwards. I haven’t been at it long enough that I’ll vouch for it, and, I warn you, I’ve gotten information out of psychotic gibberish (although I haven’t yet received messages from thermal noise.) But it’s a lead.
Both sides are itching for a fight. Echo chambers sure aren’t helping. People on each side, and I’m guilty of this from time to time, are looking at tens of millions of fellow citizens as bizarre caricatures.
I have among my friends a few folks who voted for trump who are what I call “reflexive Republicans”, and it was easier for them to do so because they all, as they’ve been programmed to for 20+ years, hated Hillary. They’ve been somewhat silent of late. Hopefully, they’ll vote Dem in this election as it seems that the only chance they ever have of reclaiming their party is to show that trump supporting carries a price at the polls. (That’s the argument I’ve been using with them.)
Apparently he was banned at some point, as I just discovered.
I read the parenthetical in the thread title as “A response to Covfefe”. Anyway, it’s a waste of time today to try to persuade the current crop of rightist supporters of anything. Look at trump’s latest nonsensical commentary about him and one of the worst dictators of all time. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if trump were to actually kill someone in Time Square and get away with it.
