What other observations from this 50 year old picture?
But seriously… the Beware of Dog sign… it’s unchanged after all these years.

I’d not be surprised if it were the same company that’s been producing exactly the same sign all these years.
One of my uncles had a Bowl-a-matic up on a shelf when I was a kid and I desperately wanted to play with it but we weren’t allowed to touch it. He said it was missing pieces and didn’t work but I never believed that. It was still in the box and everything; I’m pretty sure he was afraid me and my cousins would break it (and to be fair, we probably would have). Probably worth a pretty penny by now.
Well, it’s not like they have an expiration date…
Not much plastic packaging in those days. I’m so envious.
I wish hardware stores still looked like that…
Dogs don’t read very well and maybe the consistent font helps them remember how fierce they are supposed to be.
Seriously - Shorpy.com is a really wonderful site to spend some time browsing at. I stop by every few days to look at the new additions. It is a window into worlds gone by.
It’s a different dog now, though.
I dunno, the “G” in DOG is most certianly different. Hard to tell, but the “R” in BEWARE seems to be a bit different, too.
Interesting, though. If it wasn’t for the barcode, you could make the change and nobody would notice.
excavating (for a mind)
I think the G looks different because of the black bar of the display rack. And the extreme angle may account for any perceived difference in the R.
3-m logo is different now.
Allow me to share one of my favorite works:
Some of the best pictures have mundane things in the background that fascinate me.
The Victoria era beach pictures are my all-time favorites.
