BF2 unlocks - help a brother out

After playing BF2 for a while, I decided I’d download the Spec Ops pack so I could use my next unlock to get one of those shiny weapons that keep killing me. I just reached Gunnery Seargeant and haven’t used the unlock yet, so I figured now is the perfect time.

Except after I install the Spec Ops pack, I still don’t get any of the new unlocks available, just the old BF2 unlocks. I understand there’s some special sequence that the patches have to be installed in, but I can’t find any clear instructions on Google. Any help?

Order:

BF2 -> Special Forces -> 1.22 (full patch (373 MB)).

You won’t enable the additionally unlocks per level (or back unlocks owed) until you play at least one round. Even then, it’ll take a little while for it to register because it’s a weekend and Gamespy’s server are overloaded.

Finally, you may not select a 2nd tier unlock (aka. Special Forces unlock) until you’ve the base unlock. For example, you may not take the G36E unless you’ve the L85A1. You’ll receive 2 unlocks per level though, making it easy to get both for one kit. You may split the two unlocks over two 1st tier or over enabled 2nd tier if you want. You don’t need to put them all into one class.

When playing, the Special Forces unlocks are only available when you’re on non-Special Forces maps. While you’re playing the Special Forces maps, you can only use the normal unlocks because the Special Forces unlocks are the regular guns. This is a principle known as “Pay to Win” because it’ll give you an advantage over all of the people who didn’t pay for the Special Forces unlocks. It makes people like me hate you because the G36E and flashbangs (F2000) are imbalanced.

I assume you’re not talking about Breath of Fire 2, the older Capcom RPG?

Thanks a heap… I read bits and pieces of this advice everywhere but somehow nobody put it together as well as you did.

Yeah, I can’t wait to camp next to a supply crate and spam some flashbangs. :smiley:

Seriousy, if it makes you feel better, I slogged my up to gunnery sergeant eating plenty of G36E rounds before I got tired of being on the wrong side of the unbalance and resolved to do something about it. $30 isn’t really that much if you think how much time you put into the game, it’s not like people who pay $500 for a bunch of plats to buy the enchanted codpiece to reach level 92 on Everquest.
