Whoever society (at the time) places at its doorstep will always be looked upon as being inferior. Mid 1800 it was the Indians then the Chinese. At the turn of the century it was the Irish immigrants then the Italians. Blacks didn’t have any rights so they were naturally looked upon as being inferior. After the civil rights movements they are the ones that need to prove themselves worthy of being Americans. They are in no way inferior as a race; American society has labeled them so.
In a hundred years, who ever is at the bottom of the pecking order will also be looked upon as such!

x-ray, where is your cite for the statistics that you have mentioned above? What schools are we talking about? Can you name them? How do you know what parents are and are not doing? Is this all black parents? Some? Got a percentage?
What black people do you know? Even if they’re the type that you’re describing, how do you know what percentage of the black population they represent? More to the point…why are you stereotyping a group? Does that make you feel superior?
How do you explain the overrepresentation of blacks in our prison system?
According to many studies the reason is not because the commit more crimes. The reason is plain old racism. The type of racism displayed in this very thread.

I’ve heard the theories you are talking about: getting good grades = trying to be white. It is just a theory, though, and there isn’t any real scientific evidence to support it. That would be a tough thing to do at any point. There could very well be some or even a lot of truth in it. I think a lot of kids of all races get hazed for being too smart. It’s a jealousy thing. And perhaps it’s more common in the black community than in others.
Can you see why some people here get upset when you say somtheing like “Most blacks are lazy”? Think about it. There are upwards of 25M blacks in the US. Even if you know 25K blacks (impossible), that would only be .1% of the total poulation. Lets assume you know 25 blacks. Well, that’s .0001% of the total.

Ok Biggirl, blame it on the cops. A study was done to see if blacks were pulled over more by New Jersey state Troopers because of racism or because more blacks then whites speed. Guess which it was. And no, I don’t have a cite, I read it in the newspaper at the time. Go look it up.

And the findings of that study proved nothing since the disportionate number of black drivers who are singled out don’t receive a similar number of speeding tickets. This indicates that speeding isn’t the “offense” cited when many blacks are profiled on the highway, so speeding isn’t an explanation for the biased stats.
Did you read it on the bathroom wall while you were skimming the newspaper? There has been no comprehensive study of speeding habits of drivers broken down by race. That New Jersey study is controversial and surfaced during a time when the troopers were in hot water about racial profiling. The question is, how do you make the leep from speeding to crime?
It’s not just a theory, even without the study if you live where I do it’s pretty obvious even before the statistics were gathered.

Well they are only your opinions, from your limited experience, and from what you’ve written, I’d say your experience is seriously limited. IMHO, IMO, is probably a more appropriate place for you opinions, though, there is a PIT thread with your name on it just waiting for you to grace it with your presence. Don’t be afraid, just do it.
