They’re going to push a lot of Biden advertising before and during the debate, focusing on his accomplishments, and especially aimed at Black and Latino voters in this 2nd term election. Also, they’re planning to mobilize thousands of volunteers to do social media posts making the same points. The volunteers will be getting some kind of training this weekend.
A bunch of positive messages about what Biden has done.
Versus a big whiny baby crying about how everyone is mean to him and he really won, and his only plan for the presidency is to get back at the mean people.
I read a news article this morning speculating that trump would time his surrender at the Atlanta jail to coincide with the Republican debate so as to get all eyes on him instead of those other nasty people and to make sure the next day’s headlines are all about him.
Plausible. As long as you truly believe there no such thing as bad publicity…
There’s always an on-call judge who can deal with such things.
Or maybe defendants just sit in a holding cell until the judge is available. Risky on a Friday night – you could sit for up to 72 hours before learning your bond amount!
From this article it sounds like they will just be booked and fingerprinted, then released on pre-arranged conditions. The initial appearance before the judge will happen at a later date.
ETA: My cite is in the last paragraph of the article.
It’s all speculation, of course, but this part of the article really set the stage:
The potential to embarrass the Republican National Committee, which is hosting the debate, and Fox News, which is airing it, could make a jailhouse counter-programming opportunity all the more alluring to Trump at a time when his relationships with those pillars of the conservative establishment are strained.
Plus, there’s always the whole “LOOK AT MEEEE!!!” thing he’s got going on.
I must admit I’m a little disappointed. One of my occasional guilty pleasures is the REELZ reality show Jail, which films the action in the intake area of various urban jails.
It’s common for them to stick anyone that comes in drunk -and a lot of people come in drunk- into a holding cell for several hours to sober up before they’ll let them go before the judge. I was really hoping that would happen to Rudy, who I’m pretty sure is drunk 24/7.
It’s yet another demonstration of how Trump destroys everything he touches that this thread started out discussing how Biden’s campaign would attempt to counterprogram the GOP debate and then was immediately swamped with Trump’s apparent intention to do the same. Sigh.
