You can’t watch the video and not see that he has aged. He’s moving slowly and didn’t appear to be aware of the proceedings. Not only did he wander off but the other leaders had to reposition themselves to put him back in the center of the group for the photo op.
I’m waiting for him to start. Will keep you posted.

But implicit in the job of asking questions is that the candidate is supposed to answer the damn question, not digress on something completely unrelated. Some of the time it wasn’t even a classic deflection; Trump was flat-out ignoring the question entirely. What if both candidates decided to always ignore every question and just talk about whatever they felt like? How is that the moderators doing their job?
And the Ukraine thing really bugs me. Trump has been boasting repeatedly that he’d end the war in Ukraine in an instant. Sure, Biden could point out the he’s never said how he would do it and doesn’t have a plan, but the format doesn’t allow Biden to ask Trump questions directly. Only the moderators were in a position to get Trump to either elaborate or admit that he didn’t have a plan.
This entire thread talks about how old he appeared in the debate. What about the video I linked is bullshit? Be specific.

Seems like classic Uncle Joe today. You can see he’s still fighting a cold, but he has that smile, the Irish twinkle in his eye, working an admittedly friendly crowd. He seems fine today, speaking forcefully.
He was never going to go down in history as The Great Communicator. But he has a talent for coming across as decent and a man of the people. Not saying this washes away yesterday, but I was sitting in dread waiting for him to come on. I’m breathing a little easier.
I wonder if he’ll acknowledge in some way his weak debate, let some of the air out of the balloon…?

Everyone here who has had relatives with dementia know how insidious the disease is, especially in its early stages. The good days and lucid times are weirdly juxtaposed with moments when the person is very badly impaired indeed.
I am not saying that Biden is impaired - just that you can’t make a judgement from one rally any more than you can from one debate, medically.
I think he behaves differently when scripted than unscripted. His mouth always ran ahead of his brain even when he was younger and all available evidence is that he is struggling again to control this.
