FWIW Politico had a blurb that was quickly scrubbed that the pick is Kamala Harris saw this reference on twitter and Politico says it apologizes. looking for link…
I wouldn’t mind Harris, but I think she’s the AG that Biden will need. I think he’ll pick Rice, leaving Warren for another cabinet position.
Pick is named next week
Innnnnnnnteresting.
Same here. Rice as VP, Harris as AG and Warren as something important, like Labor or HHS. Or Commerce. Let her loose on everybody who took bail-out money. State and Defense are the big question marks.
I’d like to see Warren at Treasury (even if Barney Frank wouldn’t), and several years ago thought this retired Navy admiral could make a great (and the first female and first POC) SECDEF: Michelle Howard - Wikipedia
I don’t think there is any chance in Hell that Warren leaves her Senate position to head up Labor or HHS. I don’t think she’d even take Treasury. Y’all are underestimating the power that a Senator has.
I’m w/ those above - my preference would be Rice VP, Harris AG.
I’m on this bandwagon as well.
I agree. Especially over time: she can be a senator for 20 years, if she wants. And I want her there, honestly. Especially since Massachusetts has a Republican governor.
I know the political world is all a-twitter that this tips his hand that she’s “the one,” but I actually think it tips his hand that she’s out of the running.
She’s probably the one that he gets asked about the most by journalists. So if you’re his campaign communications person, you want him to say the CORRECT THING, not flub the answer in regard to someone you will be leaning on heavily to help you on the campaign trail…after you announce someone else as your running mate. You don’t necessarily want to snub her twice in one week-- once with a flubbed answer to the media, and again when you announce Val Demings or Karen Bass as your veep.
I really have no idea who he’s going to pick, but I’m getting nervous as the big moment approaches (even though, yes, historically it hasn’t mattered much). Like many here, Rice is my top choice, but I’ll be relieved if it’s almost anyone but Warren. Duckworth would not be great either. If it’s not Rice, I’d be happy with Whitmer or Lujan Grisham.
I remember when Gerald Ford picked Bob Dole as his running mate, and for about a week it was HAR HAR PINEAPPLES YUK YUK BOB DOLE PINEAPPLE! Then everyone forgot about it.
People can get used to any name.

Thanks!
I remember no such thing. Bob Dole was a respected Republican Senator, I don’t recall anyone childish enough to remark on the coincidence that he shares a name with a pineapple producer.
I do, and I was a child at the time!
