I think Biden should deploy some strategically placed barbs against Trump during the debates. I think it would be great, for instance, if when he was given the mic to respond to something Trump said, Biden were to shake his head and say, “wow, he is one stupid son of a bitch.” He doesn’t need to wrestle with the pig necessarily, but he would benefit from channeling some of the country’s collective anger at Trump on that stage. One of Trump’s greatest assets during these debates was that he wasn’t afraid to say what millions of Americans were privately thinking. Biden should do the same thing from the other side.
I’ve been making the case for a long time now that Biden should punch Trump right in his wet mouth. Make him bleed. I suspect millions of Americans have spent the better part of 4 years wishing they could do just that. Not only would Biden win the election but he’d be considered a hero.
“There you go again” worked quite well for Reagan in 1980, as I recall.
Those were very different times. Trump has broken the longtime profanity taboo - I can remember him actually saying “we’re going to knock the shit out of ISIS” during speeches in 2016 - and Biden should not restrain himself from doing the same, within reason. I don’t necessarily want to see him launch into a profane tirade because I don’t think he could maintain composure or his train of speech while doing so…I think he’d stumble, hesitate, and sound like an idiot. But a well-placed “son of a bitch” or “asshole” thrown Trump’s way during the debates would draw widespread acclaim.
Maybe Biden should mimic Trump getting ready for a speech and imitate blotting orange makeup all over his face, rehearsing lines like, “People are saying. Everybody’s saying.”
He should just sock Chump a good one in the face the moment they come out.
Did I read somewhere that eye-rolling during something GWB said did AL Gore some harm?
Perhaps back when. Like when Howard Dean screamed and it turned people’s heads. Now you can make fun of a handicapped person and somehow gain votes. So I’m not sure how low the bar is in our current time.
While Trump is speaking during a debate, Biden should - very clearly and methodically - pick up his water glass with one hand, take a drink, and set it down again.
And then smile.
LOVE IT!
Maybe even keep holding the glass when they switch to him, and just comment musingly, “I don’t see what the difficulty is!”
Karine Jean-Pierre named as chief of staff of Biden’s running mate.
Karine Jean-Pierre in June of 2019 put herself between someone rushing the stage and then candidate Kamala Harris.
Somehow PredictIt is going nuts with Rice skyrocketing at this moment. She’s over 50 as of now.
I suspect Rice as well. With the amount of people that Biden has been flying in lately (Buttigieg, Whitmer, etc.), I think he wants to announce key cabinet posts as well. Because Rice just isn’t as well known to the general populace like someone who wasn’t in the primaries (like Harris or Warren), this forces the narrative to spread out a little bit (and hopefully dilute any Benghazi bullshit).
She’s not on the Convention speaker list, unless she’s going to be in the “unnamed VP candidate” slot. That’s either a good head fake or she’s the pick.
Wait a minute - how do you name the VP’s CoS before naming the VP cand?
Doesn’t the VP get to name his/her CoS?
I’m sure she did. It’s all a PR stunt - it gets people buzzing and speculating.
Generally the VP nominee speaks the day before the Presidential nominee - they get the prime spot:
According to the convention speaker linup:
It appears that Harris nor Duckworth nor Baldwin are the VP nom. Although, Jill Biden is speaking on Wednesday, so maybe they are moving it around?
Rice does not have a spot… so it looks like she may be the favorite.
i’m hoping for rice.
biden is going to have to hit the ground running as soon as he is sworn in. lining up people for cabinet/advisor positions now is a good idea.
no one can imagine what the current admin will do in the next 5 months.
Though maybe the speaker list is a red herring. From the NYTimes:
Biden’s running mate will address the convention on Wednesday. As a precaution, planners have scheduled speaking times for some top vice-presidential contenders in case they are not picked, including Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan and Senators Kamala Harris of California and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.
Prime-time keynote speeches will feature Michelle Obama on Monday, Jill Biden on Tuesday and Barack Obama on Wednesday before Joe Biden’s acceptance address on Thursday.
