Biden's choice for vice presidential candidate

13 hours before you posted this, I already linked to it’s debunking. Please read before posting.

You’re new here so I’ll be kind. Please don’t insult other posters outside the BBQ Pit.

Thanks.

I was wishing that whoever it was, her last name would be Mytime.

There’s more — this fake “fact” about Harris being ineligible for the presidency is part of the latest conspiracy theory.

Because that WHY Biden picked her. Her alleged ineligibility is a feature, not a bug. Because if Harris can’t assume the presidency Nancy Pelosi is next in line. So Harris’s nomination is part of a sinister plot to engineer a Pelosi presidency. :exploding_head::exploding_head::exploding_head::exploding_head::exploding_head:. The gullibility is mind-blowing

I am totally trolling my conservative friends with this one.  :joy:

From what I can see:

  1. Although Harris was a law and order attorney she has been involved in recent BLM issues. Being law and order is good for a candidate. Supporting BLM may help win over progressives.

  2. Harris is very good at fundraising and electronic organization. She is also young, only 55?, in case Biden does not remain as healthy as he is now.

  3. The Conservative media calls her a bigot, anti-Catholic, anti-business, corrupt, immoderate and too much in favour of universal health care and relaxed immigration. It is to laugh…

They have the green light to not hide that shit anymore.

Sorry, I disagree. Just like ““I’ll vote for the Irish-American heritage (Joe Biden) because his victory will help change perspectives about Irish people and lead to more opportunities and inspiration for Irish people in the future” - sounds absurd.

It’s not fair on Kamala either, she should feel American first and treat Indian-Americans just like all Americans. She should not feel any special obligation to India or Indians in her official position : be it Senator, VP or POTUS.

It’s not the same. There are 35 million Americans with Irish ancestry. They say the Irish-Americans are more Irish than the Irish - the culture has thoroughly melded with general American culture at large. Indian-Americans especially second generation children of immigrant families, face a much larger cultural divide if their families are traditional. They would be completely justified in feeling some gratification at being represented at the highest levels of government - there’s plenty of middle ground between that and “welp, voting for the Indian because I’m Indian.”

I don’t even know how traditional Indian families in America feel about Kamala Harris, as she is clearly NOT the product of a traditional Indian family. But it’s not really comparable to Irish anything.

Their speech is on. Biden first. Not bad on calling out Trump & administration. Sweetening up Kamala…

“He inherited the longest economic expansion in US history from Barack Obama and Joe Biden, and then, like with everything else he inherited, he ran it into the ground.”

Ouch.

My paraphrase. Watching live.

Solid event put together by the campaign, IMO, especially considering social distancing. Probably won’t matter in the long run, but hopefully it’s an indication that this is a very sharply run campaign team.

You know why politicians succeed as politicians? Because, unlike this statement, they live in and deal with the real world.

Yeah, this was good. I hope the good people of this country are listening this time.

Wait, who was that? Barack Obama’s father was an immigrant, but his mother was not.

Indeed; Ann Dunham was born in Kansas, as were both of her parents.

That can be said about societal biases too. Doesn’t make them right though.

And some of her ancestors came over on the (or a) Mayflower. Not the original, but another ship of the same name that came to Plymouth in 1629.

Why shouldn’t she feel close to her mother’s ancestry? And if other South Asians are excited that someone who has Desi ancestry may be close to the White House, why is that wrong?

When John F. Kennedy ran for President, Catholics were over the moon excited (as a group, undoubtedly Republican Catholics may not have been as excited, but they probably were happy one of their own broke there). Was that wrong? And in fact I’ve read that in some circles, people are excited that Biden may become the second Catholic to ever be President (on a side note, kind of interesting that Catholics make up the majority of the Supreme Court, but there has only been 1 Catholic President).

I never said that Harris should treat anyone different. I said that voters may see her victory as a “glass ceiling” moment where it changes public perspectives.
