Though that episode was indeed a while back, I would hardly characterize it as ‘one of the first few.’

You are referring to “The Dead Hooker Juxtaposition”, which was episode 19 in season 2 of the series, or episode 36 overall. Since "“The Apology Insufficiency” is episode 70 overall, it is not even, quite, in the first half of all BBT episodes that have aired so far.

Hence, overall, she has had approximately one and a half years to ‘get used to it’ since that time.
