Well I have big feet, and my feet come first if you’re measuring from the ground-up, so I suppose I’m big-endian
As an unfortunate Windows user I’m little-
Little endian: It makes more sense to me to have byte 0 be the least significant byte rather than the other way around.
Little-endian, if only because it’s winning and the sooner all computers are the same endian-ness, the easier my life will be.
Big endian. It’s how our decimal system works, so why would we want it to be different in binary?
computer stuff?
only big/little endian i know is from johnathan swift’s gulliver’s travels…and i am a hardboil and make into deviled eggs or egg salad, not into soft boiled eggs unless they are involved in eggs benedict…
As long as there’s consistency, I’m happy.
Big-endian. Conclusions first. Then the little stuff that feeds into it.
aruvgan:
'tis where they swiped the nomenclature from.
It’s like arguing positive-ground DC versus negative-ground DC. It can matter a lot that your device (or software) is consistent with the system, but as long as that consistency exists it almost totally doesn’t matter which one you went with.
What? No love for middle endian?
Big-endian.
I’m definitely a middle-endian. When I have a hard-boiled egg, I roll it along its side until the shell is all nice and crackly, and then I peel it off in one swell foop!
I was just having a discussion at work about middle-endiannes. We’re currently working on an ASIC that has a mix of cores, some of which are little-endian, and some of which are big-endian.
Naturally it’s been a nightmare programming everything correctly for this specific chip, so we were thinking we would need to throw in some other various endianed cores to make it even more fun!
I like little-ends. …Or were we talking about chicken?
The only way to have a soft boiled egg is little endian, the egg then looks correct way up in the egg cup. Must be served with buttered soldiers, and a little sea salt.
One little, two little, three little endians
Four little, five little, six little endians…
